Hello Travelers! Once again, your Genshin Impact dev team is here to bring you the newest information about the latest Genshin Impact update! With Version 2.2 Into the Perilous Labyrinth of Fog, coming on October 13, we’re going to bring you the last of the six major islands of Inazuma and Thoma as a playable character, together with his Hangout Event. Meanwhile, you may also step up to new challenges in Inazuma with Tartaglia and Xinyan, or enjoy some time with old friends in Liyue, Mondstadt, or in your personal realm.

Besides, if you haven’t received the free five-star crossover character Savior From Another World Aloy yet, please make sure to check her out during Version 2.2. You can also receive Predator, a special bow tailor-made for Aloy, and start hunting together in the world of Teyvat.

Genshin Impact Version 2.2: Dispel the mystic fog shrouding Tsurumi Island

An Island Shrouded in Fog

While each of the major islands in Inazuma has its own unique characteristics, Tsurumi Island might be the toughest one for wanderers and explorers. The dense fog that envelops the entire island is a strong deterrent to most outsiders. You will have to find your way in, and be careful about getting lost in the fog which you can barely see through.

New monstrous beasts also lurk in the gloomy mist. The Rifthounds and the Rifthound Whelps are stealthy monsters from the Abyss which can turn invisible, sneaking around for the best opportunity to land a strike in combat. Both the Rifthounds and Rifthound Whelps have Electro or Geo attributes. But what makes this species really dangerous is their ability to apply the Corrosion status to enemies. When an attack hits a character, all party members will be affected by the Corrosion status and continually lose HP regardless if they’re shielded or not. So beware of the hounds!

In addition, Tsurumi Island appears to be the focus of recent research by a scholar from Sumeru. In the Shadow of the Ancients seasonal event, you can team up with the Sumeru scholar to form a research team to accomplish investigation commissions across Mondstadt, Liyue, and Inazuma. The aim is to defeat an Anomalous Model Ruin Grader that seems to be constantly drawing power from an unknown source of energy to regenerate itself.

Reuniting With Friends

We believe many of you have been busy exploring new areas ever since the Inazuma region was launched this summer. Now that the cool autumn is slowly approaching, it might be a good time to hang out with your friends from Inazuma, Thoma and Sayu, take on a new challenge with Tartaglia and Xinyan, or have fun with the new rhythm game with more companions.

First of all, Thoma, who accompanied the Traveler in the Inazuma storyline will be joining as a new four-star playable character. Renowned as the “fixer” in Inazuma, Thoma is also a reliable teammate in combat, providing strong defense and buffs. Thoma wields a polearm and holds a Pyro Vision. His Elemental Skill Blazing Blessing can deal AoE Pyro Damage, apply Pyro to himself, and summons a defensive Blazing Barrier. When the Blazing Barrier is active, the amount of Damage Absorption it takes can stack if another Blazing Barrier is obtained again, refreshing its duration as well. With his Elemental Burst “Crimson Ooyoroi”, Thoma can help his teammates deal additional Pyro Damage to enemies. He even has a special Talent which grants successful fishing attempts in Inazuma a 20% chance of scoring a double catch.

Two old friends, “Childe” Tartaglia, Eleventh of the Fatui Harbingers and Xinyan, Liyue’s rock ‘n’ roll musician, will make an appearance in Inazuma during the Labyrinth Warriors event. You will enter a domain called the Mystic Onmyou Chamber, accompanied by a strange paper figure named Shiki Taishou who can provide special help and buffs. Tough fights and valuable rewards that can be redeemed from the event shop await you to claim! Additionally, Childe will also be appearing in his Event Wish rerun, followed by Hu Tao and Thoma in the later Event Wish.

Last but not least, if you enjoy rhythm games, now is the time to play! In the Tuned to the World’s Sounds event, you will receive a new instrument Floral Zither to play a music piece with Ningguang, Zhongli, Keqing, Xiao, Sangonomiya Kokomi, Kamisato Ayaka, and the Raiden Shogun at different locations respectively.

Relax in Your Realm

With Version 2.2, we are also adding more functions to the existing gameplay. For those of you who enjoy the Serenitea Pot, now it’s time to consider remodeling your realm again.

A new Inazuma-themed realm layout Silken Courtyard can now be unlocked by Travelers who have leveled up their Sacred Sakura’s Favor to Level 40. More Inazuma-style Furnishing Blueprints are also added in the coming version, and you may obtain them from the teapot spirit Tubby, the Sacred Sakura, certain World Quests, or a brand-new type of treasure chest called Remarkable Chests on Tsurumi Island.

Other than the Inazuma-style furnishings, we also added a new furnishing type and more flowers. With the Floating Platform, you can now consider building your own adepti abode upon it. The Dreams of Bloom event also gives a chance to grow special flowers and use them as furnishings to decorate your realm.

More DualSense Wireless Controller Support

Since the release of the native PS5 version of Genshin Impact, some of our team members have been working on more features for the DualSense Controller.

In Version 2.1, our team introduced the use of the adaptive triggers for our fishing gameplay. As you start reeling in your rod, you can feel the tension of the line change when pulling the R2 trigger. We’ve also been applying haptic feedback for some scenarios, items, and characters.

And that’s all for now, Traveler. Don’t forget to explore Tsurumi Island and I hope you continue to enjoy a thrilling adventure in Inazuma.
