WayForward has announced that 13AM Games’ cooperative kaiju beat-em-up, Dawn of the Monsters, will release on the PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, and PC sometime in 2022.

Check out an announcement trailer provided to IGN below.

An official overview reads:

Players take control of powerful monsters in order to take on the evil Nephilim – a horde of creatures that are hellbent on destroying the planet. Liberate four major metropolitan areas, from Toronto to Tokyo, in this epic action game.

Featuring beautiful 2.5D graphics inspired by the works of Mike Mignola, bone-crunching combat with the depth of a fighter, RPG upgrades, and fully destructible environments. Couch cooperative play is bigger and badder than ever before.

In its exclusive preview, IGN revealed that Dawn of the Monsters features four playable characters: Megadon, Ganira, Aegis Prime, and Tempest Galahad. The game’s unique art style and designs are brought to you by Godzilla character creator Shiji Nishikawa and Godzilla comic book artist Matt Frank. All playable monsters come with Brutal Rage abilities, Cataclysm Attacks, and finishing moves.

Dawn of the Monsters features 35 missions, over a dozen enemy types, and customizable kaiju. You’ll be able to team up with one other friend to take down your foes.

“From the moment we laid eyes on Dawn of the Monsters, we knew it had the potential to be something special,” WayForward said in a press release last year. “13AM Games is a phenomenal developer that has been a great collaborative partner in the past, and we are very excited to help them bring this unique vision to life.”
