Alan Wake and Control developer Remedy Entertainment has opened a new studio in Sweden as it works on multiple video game projects. In the company’s third quarter business review, CEO Tero Virtala said that he has been working on recruiting experienced developers in Sweden, and the pilot program has been successful. As a result, Remedy now has an office in Stockholm.

For over a year, multiple Swedenbased talent have been working for the company as part of a pilot initiative in Stockholm, led by the General Manager of our Vanguard project, Johnny Mang,” Remedy said in a press release. “The shift to location-agnostic work in the wake of COVID made us realize that Remedy is a state of mind, rather than a place in Finland,” Mang added.

Initially, Remedy plans to hire up to 25 developers in Sweden by the end of 2022, and plans to adopt a hybrid working model.

Remedy has said that the bigger of its two projects with Epic Games (the smaller one was Alan Wake Remastered) has entered full production. Additionally, Control spin-off (codenamed Condor) and the bigger-budget Control game are “progressing according to plan.” Both Control projects will be published by 505 Games.

Condor remains in the proof-of-concept stage, whereas the bigger-budget Control game is in the concept stage,” Virtala said. “We are excited for both projects as they further expand Control into new games and game types. In addition, we will act as the co-publisher for Condor, which enables us to build more commercial capabilities and strengthen our position in the value chain.”
