If you cast your minds back to the launch of the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack, it was a time of great joy as Nintendo fans around the world linked arms and sang the Mario theme. Well, actually, the conversation was about emulation standards, wonky button mapping and the lack of fog. Nintendo fell short of expected standards in various ways with the Nintendo 64 emulation, and a high profile example was in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

The main issues related to a lack of fog and water reflections, which was notable for detracting from the game’s atmosphere in key areas. Well, it seems like the most recent app update – which added Banjo-Kazooie – has also tweaked the emulation, with improvements to be found in OoT. The solution isn’t perfect, but it seems that water reflections are better, at the very least. There’ll now be a lot of eyes on The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask when it arrives in February.

Our lovely video chums Alex Olney and Jon Cartwright discuss all of this in the video above, so be sure to check that out!
