At the moment, DualSense controllers can only be updated if they’re linked via USB cable to a PS5 console, but this finally looks set to change. Sony may soon be adding a DualSense controller Firmware Updater to PC if a deleted user license agreement is anything to go by.

When will the DualSense Firmware Updater be released?

There is no release date for the DualSense Firmware Updater to be released on PC for Windows and Mac. The firmware updater would allow players to update their Dualsense controllers through their PC. However, the deleted user license agreement, spotted by ResetEra, was dated April 2022 suggesting a release could be fairly soon. The release could even coincide with the ability to stream Playstation Plus Premium games on PC when the new tiers go live in June. Playstation Plus Premium will allow players to stream PlayStation, PS2, PS3, PSP, and PS4 games to their PC, but not PS5 games.

Some players are also hoping Sony will soon release a wireless adapter as they did with the DualShock 4 controller. This would mean players could do away with the USB cable some currently need to play PC games with the DualSense controller. Of course, the DualSense controller can already be used wirelessly on PCs that support a Bluetooth connection, but for those that don’t have that, there is no indication Sony is planning on releasing an adapter at the moment, unfortunately. As always, though, take this rumor with a pinch of salt until Sony makes an official announcement.

In other news, more rumors have suggested the PSVR 2 headset will not be released until 2023. A reason wasn’t given for the delay although it won’t be due to a shortage of AMOLED screens the headset will be using. Elsewhere, Vicarious Visions has now completely merged with Blizzard and will now be known as Blizzard Albany.
