In Mexico the Winter months signal the arrival of the Dry Season and in Forza Horizon 5, those same winter months deliver a ton of new events and weekly challenges. And when challenges pop up, so do guides – let us walk you through the easiest and finest way to complete the Weekly Challenges provided in Forza Horizon 5 Series 6 – Winter. There are new cars on the line if you complete everything ahead of you, and yes, we can tell you exactly how to complete the #BEARNECESSITIES Photo Challenge too.

Winter follows on from Autumn, but Series 6 as a whole seems pretty stable. The monthly Horizon Drift Club story is still here, as is The Trial. There are other events to enjoy too – namely the Eventlab offerings and Seasonal Championship. Of course, away from the racing and it’s all about the Collectibles and Photo Challenges…

Part 1 – Peelin It

Are you Peelin’ it? Groan worthy puns aside, the weekly challenge this week revolves around the Peel P50, a car that is not only tiny, but also quite rare, as it only appears in Wheelspins or the Forzathon shop.

Luckily, this week is one of the weeks it appears in the shop, so go spend your hard earned points ( and if you need more, the Horizon Arcade events are your best bet, with 60 Forzathon points awarded for finishing three rounds).

Chapter 1:  Teeny Tiny Peely

Buy the car, get in it and drive. Simples!

Chapter 2: Smash Hit

Smash 10 Pinatas in the P50.

Best way to do this is to search for a Pinata Event in the Eventlab, let someone else do the heavy lifting!

Chapter 3: Get Creative

Next step in the chain, we have to upgrade our little Peel to A Class 800, then hit 110 mph. I feel this may be a challenge, given the wayward handling, but my share code is: 908526178.

Find a straight bit of road – ie, the big freeway going through the middle – and unleash the beast.

Chapter 4: The Peel Deal

As is standard for these last steps, simply take a photo of your little P50.

Weekly car challenge done, enjoy the points!

Part 2 – Weekly Challenges

Series 6 – Winter ushes forth the now standard Series 6 gear – the Trial, a couple of Eventlabs, a Seasonal Championship, some Playground Games fun and a single Speed Trap. There’s the chance to enjoy some Horizon Arcade Mini Games too.

Eventlab 1 – FINNS GHOST422 presents Jungle Vortex

Well, another of my favourite type of events. That may have been a little sarcastic, to be honest, as I’d much rather, personally speaking, do some actual racing than a stupid obstacle course, but that’s what we need to do here.

We need a Rally Monster car, tuned to A Class 800, and so I chose an Exocet Off Road FE car, mainly as it doesn’t need any upgrading. This is like being a Nascar driver, all we need to do is turn left…

The reward for this event is a VW Type 2, also known as a Campervan to those of us who aren’t VW aficionados. These are a scream when upgraded, my own one is now an S2 Class car.

Eventlab 2 – Takano 00 Presents Photo Studio V3

An event without death defying leaps and anti gravity jumps? Do my eyes deceive me?

Well, it appears not, as we just need to take a photo to complete this one.

A Photo of any car, no less, so whatever tickles your fancy.

Well, that’s what they would like you think, but in actual fact all you have to do is drive in a reasonably straight line to the end of the course. You can take a photo if you wish, but it isn’t required.

Confused? Me too.

The prize? Well, since you ask, it’s a Photo Hoodie. I don’t think it will fit over my Pinata costume…

Speed Trap – Cloverleaf

The Speed Trap this week is the Cloverleaf one, and we need to blast past it at 175 mph. No problem, yeah?

Well, hold your horses.

In a Vintage Racer tuned to a maximum of B Class 700. Bit more of an issue!

Well, I went with a Maserati 8CTF from 1939, and my share code is: 345802783.

This is a ridiculous tune, as the only thing I couldn’t upgrade were the tyres, so it’s trying to put down north of 500bhp through 1930’s tyres; a recipe for fun.

Approach from the north, get the car straight then hit the loud pedal is my advice.

The reward for managing to keep the Maserati pointing in roughly the right direction is a Super Wheelspin.

Seasonal Championship – A Whole New World

The weekly racing championship this week sees us once again in Super GT cars, tuned to a maximum of S1 Class 900. As I have a few of these cars ready for such an occasion, I went with my old favourite the Ferrari 812 Superfast.

Keen eyed viewers will remember that I used this car for a speed zone a couple of weeks ago, and the share code is the same: 261040765.

We need to win three races against highly skilled Driverbots, or two out of three if you are in a convoy.

The reward? A rather swanky Bentley Continental GT ‘17, so you can pose up and down the highway!

Seasonal Playground Games – Forward Thinking

Another week, another invitation to play the Playground games playlist.

This week, we need to use a front wheel drive (FWD) car tuned up to C Class 600. I mean, FWD and off road, what could be better? I went with my old faithful John Cooper Works Mini from 2009, and the share code is: 140783690

Winning (or losing, it’s the taking part that counts, right) in these events will give you a lovely Honda Civic ‘16, so that’s a nice little treat to look forward to.

Horizon Arcade – Mini Games

These events have been missing for a couple of weeks, and I for one have missed them.

However, with the triumphant return of the Horizon Arcade to the playlist, we can drift, wreck and speed to our hearts content.

You know the score by now, find a pink circle on the map, drive to it, partake in three  rounds of madness, and not only earn Forzathon points for completing the three rounds, but tick off a challenge as well.

I’d recommend the Drift Arcade rounds, but then I love a bit of slideways action.

The Trial – Cross Roads

Unbeatable Driverbots and dubious team mates plucked from the darkest reaches of the interwebs? Yes, it’s the Trial, and this week the challenge is to pedal to victory in a Sports Utility Heroes class vehicle, tuned only to A Class 800.

This is tailor made for my lovely Bentley Bentayga SUV, and the share code is: 118484657.

With a well earned reputation as one of the ugliest cars on God’s green earth, it’s not too bad when you are sat behind the wheel!

Triumph in your quest and a shiny new BMW X6M (another ugly car contender, let’s be fair) will be added to your stable.

Part 3 – Other Challenges

Winter also includes a number of other challenges with racers this time looking to complete a Photo Challenge, a Collectibles run and a couple of Horizon Open events.

Photo Challenge – #BEARNECESSITIES

We need to take a picture of a car in front of another mural for this week’s challenge, and the car in question is the 2009 Ford Focus RS.

The mural in question is Farid Rueda’s bear Mural in Playa Azul, and if you are having trouble finding it, I’ll mark the location on the map for you. It is well hidden away in the back streets, but basically, look for a tall yellow building and its on the side of that.

Or, you know, follow the swarms of Focus RS’ (Foci?) to find it.

Your prize? Another relaxed fit T-Shirt, with the Bear on the front. Makes it all worthwhile, doesn’t it?

Collectibles – T-Rex On The Run

For this month’s challenge, we have to find and smash 15 T-Rexes hidden around Mexico. Luckily, the Eventlab people have risen to the challenge once again, and a quick search of the Eventlab will turn up no end of T-Rex related shenanigans.

The reward for completing this challenge (which can be a bit glitchy, so you may need to smash more than the 15 stated) is a creative tee. Yep, more clothes you’re never going to wear!

Horizon Open – Street Smart and Made to Order

Here at least my job is made a little easier with the Open challenges, as I don’t have to try and recommend a car to you.

There are two challenges this week, Street Smart, which requires you to performten0 pass skills in Horizon Open racing, and then Made to Order, which requires you to complete a Street Racing Custom game.

The rewards for these are a Dial Up Modem Horn (ask your parents, kids) and a Chevy Camaro ‘17 respectively for performing these feats.

You’ll also find the Monthly Events of the Horizon Story – Drift Club Mexico and Emerald Circuits Rivals events still in place. But you’ve completed those already, yeah?

Of course, it’s the rewards and new cars which are of interest should you nail the challenges found in Forza Horizon 5 Series 6 – Winter. Racking up the points should see you discovering the ATS GT ‘18 (20pts) and Porsche 911 GT1 (40pts) dropped into your garage.

You should also have enough for the Season rewards of the Honda NSX-R GT for 80pts and #2 Ford GT40 too (160pts). If not, hope that next week’s challenges of Series 6 – Spring will enable those. Stay tuned for our guide to that soon.

To play Forza Horizon 5 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S or PC, you’ll need to visit the Xbox Store. It’s freely downloadable through Game Pass.
