It’s a good month to be an Xbox gamer and even though the big new AAA releases have slightly stalled, with the power of Game Pass and the free joys of Games With Gold, there’s no reason to not spend your time gaming. As the halfway point of April hits home, and all attention focuses on copious amounts of chocolate, the Games With Gold scheme switches things up a tad – delivering two more free games to the lives of Xbox players.
Those two new Games With Gold freebies for April are pretty good too. We’ve got much love for the colour-changing madness of Hue, a game that we adored when it first released on Xbox, but those looking for something a little more lively are sorted too, with MX vs ATV Alive gathering speed.
Hue is a vibrant, colour-fuelled puzzle adventure in which you go about exploring a grey, boring world. That is until you start to infuse the land with colour, working your way past obstacles, traps and more, all in hope of hunting down your long lost mother.
Hue is a delight and released on Xbox One back in 2016 to some decent acclaim. Our full review is well worth a read, giving you an insight into what you’ll be finding within, but with the Xbox Games With Gold scheme for April stripping it of all price for the next month, downloading and playing this one is a no-brainer. Even at the regular £11.99 price, we’d be urging you to buy it
Accompanying Hue as the latest game to go free through Games With Gold is MX vs ATV Alive.
You don’t need us to tell you that the MX vs ATV series is one that has a rich history, and Alive is one of the better options available in the series. Yes it’s a native Xbox 360 title and yes, it released way back in 2011, but it could well have enough about it to still stand up to play, with you able to give it some time on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
If you’re looking to bring the sport alive, Alive is well worth a look.
You’ll find that the previously zero-priced game of Another Sight is still making the most of Games With Gold, free to download until the end of April. Unfortunately, the other title that has been free for a few weeks – Outpost Kaloki X – will now be going back to the usual asking price.
As always we’d love to hear your thoughts concerning the Games With Gold scheme. Is it still needed in a scene that is dominated by Game Pass? Do the latest games gather up much interest from you? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
