As predicted, Fall Guys is going free-to-play starting next month. Alongside the move to a F2P model, Mediatonic will be releasing a PS5 version of the game with some significant enhancements that take advantage of the more powerful hardware. Additionally, season 7 (which Mediatonic is actually calling Fall Guys Free For All Season 1) will launch with this update, which will bring new rounds, obstacles, and features to the game.

Fall Guys is going free-to-play and launching a PS5 version

Mediatonic teased a big announcement for Fall Guys last week, and many speculated the game would be moving to a free-to-play model. While it was a big hit when it was first released in August 2020, the player count has dwindled into the 10,000s on Steam since then. So, this is a great way to revitalize it.

A PS5 version will launch alongside the free-to-play update on June 21, 2022. It’ll feature enhanced physics and will perform at 60 FPS at 4K. It’ll also feature Direct Access support that’ll let you jump into the mode of your choice straight from the launch menu, which will make getting into the game a bit faster. The long-promised Switch and Xbox versions will also release on the same day, and there’ll be cross-play and cross-progression across all platforms.

Those who play Fall Guys before the update launches on June 21 will have some rewards waiting for them. Two of them that have been revealed so far are the Veggie Dog and Fiesty Dwarf costumes, and you can expect more to come. There’s also a pre-registration campaign that you can sign up for to get even more rewards.
