The new PS Plus tiers have launched in Asia, so Sony has answered a few of those burning questions players may have had about changes to PlayStation Plus. One of those questions to be answered was whether all of the classic PS Plus PlayStation, PSP, and PS2 games will have trophies. Some may be disappointed to find the answer is “no” because adding trophies to these titles is optional for the developers.

PS Plus Classic games like Ape Escape, Hot Shots Golf, Intelligent Qube, Syphon Filter, and Wild Arms all have trophy support. Their trophy lists were revealed earlier today, but nothing had been confirmed as to whether any of the other classic games would have trophies too. In a guide to the all-new PlayStation Plus service, Sony confirmed that “this feature is optional for developers”. This means that the other PS Classic games that have been released in Asia will not have trophy support; these are Disney PIXAR Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue, Echochrome, Jumping Flash!, Mr. Driller, Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, Tekken 2, Worms Armageddon, and Worms World Party.

Sony also confirmed the service would launch with 700 games across all three tiers. Interestingly, the list from Malaysia and Korea only includes just over 340 games and that’s if you count the PS4 and PS5 versions of a game as separate titles and include the timed trials in the list. This means the list of games is only going to get bigger by the time the service arrives in the Americas on June 13 and Europe on June 23. New games will also be added twice monthly. PS Plus Essential subscribers will get new games on the first Tuesday of the month as normal while PS Plus Extra and Premium members will get new games at some point in the middle of the month.

In other news, some PS Plus Classic games are based on the PAL 50Hz versions of the title instead of the NTSC 60Hz version. Elsewhere, tomorrow’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla update will add an armory and customizable loadouts.
