Original Story [Tue 28th Jun, 2022 01:45 BST]: A special Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase is airing later today in the UK, and of course, the rumours have already started.
Nacho Requena, a Spanish games journalist who accurately predicted the date of the latest Direct along with its third-party focus, has reportedly teased some of the games that could be on the way to Nintendo’s hybrid platform.
One is Atlus’ Persona series and the other is believed to be Square Enix’s action RPG, NieR: Automata:
“I’ve also been told that some Persona game will be present, though I don’t know which game
“I’ve also been told there will be another game that has been available for some time on other platforms… it’s been available for four years now.”
This message followed with the same source sharing a GIF of Nier director Yoko Taro, and a mention of this other game being released between 2017 and 2018.
The PlatinumGames’ title NieR: Automata first arrived on the PlayStation 4 and PC in 2017, and was followed by an Xbox One release in 2018. The team behind this release has previously mentioned how they would be open to a Switch port, and at one stage, told Switch fans to ask Square Enix if they wanted to see it happen. A NieR datamine last year also reportedly hinted at possible Switch plans.
As for Persona, there have been ongoing rumours the previous entries in the series will at some stage show up on the Nintendo Switch, and recently Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal were announced for Xbox during its 2022 showcase.
One other rumour doing the rounds is that a Metroid Prime Remaster is apparently lined up for November, and will follow with both Prime 2 and 3.
