Whether or not there was ever a God of War Ragnarok announcement that was supposed to go out today is debatable, but what is certain is that some fans of the game have seemingly disgraced themselves with their reactions today. Santa Monica Studio Creative Director Cory Barlog has now pleaded with fans to show “some human decency and respect” as they interact with the people making the game.
The aftermath of the God of War Ragnarok news postponement
Understandably, many fans had upset reactions after they felt the promise of a release date and more details about God of War Ragnarok had been taken away from them, even if that promise had only come from insiders and leakers rather than Sony or Santa Monica Studio themselves. Unfortunately, a minority of those players were seemingly unable to handle those feelings in an appropriate manner as they then decided to sexually harass Estelle Tigani, the game’s Cinematics Producer, by sending her unsolicited images of male anatomy (you get the idea). After calling out this behavior against people “busting their ass to make some for you to enjoy,” Cory Barlog then addressed another player who tried to blame the irrational reactions on the insiders and leakers:
don’t.
the answer is not to find someone to blame or focus hate on. maybe just pay it forward and treat the people that make the things we love with some human decency and respect.
this is not a battle, we are not at war. we are just trying to make + enjoy things together.❤️ https://t.co/o1X3WBQyKF

The above incidents were just the tip of the iceberg after other players spent the day sending threats and harassment to other members of the team too. This all happened the same day Return to Monkey Island creator Ron Gilbert also said “the joy of sharing has been driven from me” and he would no longer be posting game updates following abuse from players who disagreed with the game’s art style. It seems like “some human decency and respect” can’t come soon enough.
In other news, the Destruction AllStars developers are pledging to continue supporting their game after it joined PS Plus Extra. Elsewhere, Strangers of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin Rickrolled players with the game’s first DLC trailer.
