Today is the day! All of us at Playground Games are so excited to bring you Forza Horizon 5: Hot Wheels. This is our first big expansion for Forza Horizon 5 and features our fastest, most extreme, gravity-defying tracks, new biomes to explore and tons of new cars and features.
New Biomes + Tracks
Hot Wheels Park features a ton of new and diverse biomes: from the rugged Giant’s Canyon; to the frozen tundra dripping into the molten lava in the Ice Cauldron; to the tree canopy towering above epic waterfalls in Forest Falls; and all brought together under the exhilarating Horizon Nexus, where the Horizon Festival is suspended among the interconnected Hot Wheels tracks.
But we didn’t just stop there with new biomes. We’ve introduced new track types – 212 kilometers (131 miles) of Hot Wheels tracks to be precise – to make your Hot Wheels experience unlike anything else. From navigating the snowy Ice track, to hydroplaning on Water Flumes, staying in control over the bumps of Rumble, and even defying gravity on the futuristic Magnet tracks – there’s something for everyone. In addition to the instant acceleration push granted by Speed Boosts, the all-new Air Tracks give you consistent speed through time, allowing you to progressively get faster and faster before reaching the highest possible speeds.
What else is new?
In addition to the new map, Horizon Hot Wheels Park, high above the clouds in Mexico, there’s all sorts of new features to explore. Let’s jump in!
Become a Hot Wheels Legend: You’ll need to prove that you can master the extreme speeds of Hot Wheels Park before progressing onto faster and faster car classes. The Hot Wheels Academy introduces a new progression system that’s divided into five tiers with rewards, events and Missions associated to each.
A new Horizon Story: Hot Wheels: A History of Speed features five chapters, which are unlocked alongside your Hot Wheels Rank, taking you on a comprehensive journey of the history of Hot Wheels as you perform fun stunts and challenges along the way.
Race your friends and the community: In a first for the franchise, you can now join friends and play the entire expansion from the very beginning in co-op, including the introductory Hot Wheels Expedition.
Create your own Hot Wheels adventure in EventLab: The Hot Wheels Creation Kit features over 80 track and stunt pieces that can be instantly snapped together. We didn’t just stop there. Blueprints created on the base game’s Mexico map that utilize Hot Wheels props can even be played by non-expansion owners as well.
Get Your Skills On: Horizon Hot Wheels Park features a new UI reticle that we’re calling G-Forza. This roll indicator dynamically changes based on the car’s rotation while driving on Hot Wheels tracks with skills being triggered based on the car’s speed and tilt angle. You can bank skill after a certain minimum distance of being consistently tilted, or you can keep the skill chains going by driving extreme but clean.
New accessibility options to Forza Horizon 5: Exclusive to when playing on Hot Wheels Park, new camera FOV options are coming to console for the first time, including Chase Cam FOV and Far Chase Cam FOV. By default, these are set to maximum and will not be reflected when driving in Mexico. PC users can also customize these settings as well as Driver Cam FOV, Dashboard Cam FOV, Hood Cam FOV, and Bumper Cam FOV.
Additionally, we’ve added a Motion Blur toggle on console allowing players to choose between Short and Long Motion Blur or disable the feature entirely. And a new Hot Wheels Stunt Steering assist can also be toggled which helps steer you away from track edges when driving through highly tilted or inverted Hot Wheels track pieces.
It’s All About the Cars: Last and certainly not least, you can look forward to driving 10 new cars in Forza Horizon 5: Hot Wheels. After completing the Hot Wheels Expedition you’ll arrive at the Horizon Hot Wheels Park with the first new car, the 2013 hot Wheels Baja Bone Shaker. Check out this Forza.net blog post to learn about all the cars in Forza Horizon 5: Hot Wheels.
