Those hoping to spend more time in an Overwatch 2 public beta will be disappointed to hear there are no plans to have any more public betas before the game launches in October. Instead, the team will be using the time and feedback already gathered through the closed alpha and two beta trials to launch the best game possible.

Why are there no more Overwatch 2 public betas?

There won’t be any more Overwatch 2 public betas because the team is currently “focusing our efforts on launching the best game possible” according to Overwatch commercial leader Jon Spector. The decision has left many players disappointed, especially as they were hoping for a beta that didn’t have restricted access. The first beta was only available for PC players, while the second beta was locked behind a code or Founders Pack paywall for the first two weeks. The full statement reads:

Today marks just 2 months until Overwatch 2’s launch! We know players are eager to dive in and have seen questions about the possibility of a third public Beta. While we will continue testing OW2 daily internally, we’re not planning any additional public Beta tests.

With all the valuable feedback we received from our alpha and 2 public beta tests, we will be focusing our efforts on launching the best game possible on Oct. 4.

This isn’t the only time Blizzard has upset Overwatch 2 fans of late. A recent player survey suggested they would consider selling cosmetic skins for $45 apiece. This was later clarified to be “not indicative of final pricing” and an answer designed to gauge how far they could push their prices before players refused to purchase any microtransactions.

In other news, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax has received rollback netcode in a brand new update today. Elsewhere, the Victrix Pro FX and Pro-FX 12 fight sticks were confirmed to be officially licensed PlayStation products during the EVO tournament.
