We’ve never played Ynglet, but we have seen it working the PC scene to great effect. We’re also pretty damn familiar with the team behind it – Triple Topping – mostly as they previously pushed the beautifully crafted Welcome to Elk to our consoles. Today it is that squad who have shadow-dropped Ynglet to Xbox.

Yeah, we aren’t fans of shadow-dropping either, much preferring to know what we’re going to be able to play ahead of time, but it is what it is and with a game that is as intriguing as Ynglet, we’re letting it slide.

From the Triple Topping team – they behind Welcome to Elk which we granted the big 5/5 in review – and the solo dev with the creative mind of Nicklas ‘Nifflas’ Nygren, is Ynglet; a weirdly wonderful little game that has picked up some serious acclaim in the year or so that it’s been on Steam

Arriving on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, Ynglet is the most unique of platformers, in that, it doesn’t actually deal with platforms. Instead it tasks you with playing as a little jellyfish-like guy, jumping from floating bubble to floating bubble as they go in search of their long-lost friends.

It looks to be a joy to play, brought to life by a stunning illustrative, doodley, approach. Throw in a dynamic soundtrack which is highly reactive and you’ll discover that each and every action you take will dictate how the soundtrack plays – pretty much unique for every single player.

With the push to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, Triple Topping and Nifflas have seen fit to include a host of extras too. You’ll be treated to access to the standard base game and then a eight-level Bonus World for good measure. There are also additions to the variations in the music as well as an unlockable secret should you be able to complete the Story World in Negative Mode.

Fear not if you’re a PC or Mac player though, that additional content arrives today via an update too.

“I’m excited that Ynglet will be released on Xbox! It was very fun digging back into the game again and making new levels and music for it, and I hope you’ll like the new stuff I added.” said Nicklas ‘Nifflas’ Nygren, the solo developer of Ynglet.
