We’re old enough to remember when the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles first hit the mainstream in the mid-1980s; first in comics, then in toys and animated series’, before hitting the video game scene and the big screen in film. After falling away from public viewing for a little while, it’s pretty safe to say that the Turtles are now back – first with the brilliant Shredder’s Revenge and now this, the totally radical Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection sees Konami and Nickelodeon join forces to rip no less than thirteen of the finest TMNT titles from Konami’s back catalogue, bringing together 8-bit classics, 16-bit oddities and some arcade bonuses into one.

Priced at £39.99, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection releases on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam to give you the nostalgic Turtles hit that you need. This may well be an altogether different take on what the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles can achieve when you put it alongside Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, but it’s no less exciting.

As you’d expect to hear, there are a host of Turtles titles present and correct in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection, so no matter whether you’re looking to put the smackdown on Shredder or beat-up Bepop and Rocksteady, there’s going to be something of interest to every half-shell fan.

Included in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection are:

  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Arcade)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time (Arcade)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (NES)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game (NES)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project (NES)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (NES)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time (Super Nintendo)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (Super Nintendo)

  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fall of The Foot Clan (Game Boy)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Back From The Sewers (Game Boy)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Radical Rescue (Game Boy)

Don’t expect The Cowabunga Collection to just be straight up ports of these titles though. Konami have brought in the Digital Eclipse team to ensure that every single game here is suitable for a modern day audience. Expect quality of life improvements, the chance to save at any point and to rewind yourself out of trouble should you need it. Custom button mapping is in house too, whilst you can expect both local couch play and online opportunities in certain games; online limited to TMNT (Arcade) ,TMNT Turtles in Time (Arcade), TMNT The Hyperstone Heist and TMNT Tournament Fighters.

It’s a great time to release a new Turtles game and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection should well have enough about it to scratch more than a little nostalgic itch. You can grab it right now from the Xbox Store (£34.99) for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, whilst it’s also available on PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC.
