star ocean the divine force launch

Ever since its original release in 1996 have JRPG fans blessed the existence of the Star Ocean series, developed by Tri-Ace and now under the watchful eye of publishers Square Enix. The latest title – Star Ocean The Divine Force – delivers the latest in fantasy storytelling, something that Final Fantasy fans will especially get on well with.

Releasing today onto Xbox, PlayStation and PC, Star Ocean The Divine Force is your typical fantasy RPG, with an emphasis on major battles and traversal in three dimensions. Whether you find yourself flying around large, open landscapes, or navigating bustling cities when atop rooftops, rapid traversal is the key, as you look for the best place to attack the waves of enemies you come across.

Tri-Ace are keen to emphasise that you can play any way as you work your way through the story of The Divine Force, however with abilities that can take down enemies in a single strike, or see you suddenly appear for an ambush, it seems that the best way to play is to sit back, survey your surroundings, and then make your play.

It’s all incredibly fantastical, but that’s what the fans want, at the end of the day. Expect to be battling out with huge weapons, across neon-lit environments as well as beautiful rural regions, all in the name of making a name of yourself as one of two playable characters. Whether you take control of Raymond, the captain of a space trading ship, or Laeticia, a princess-knight of a faraway kingdom, you can bet your top dollar that proceedings will be fast and frantic.

Star Ocean The Divine Force is now available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and PC. For Xbox gamers, you can pick up a copy of the Standard Edition for £59.99 from the Xbox Store. The Digital Deluxe Edition – priced at £69.99, may also take your fancy, throwing in some extra goodies for your cash.
