GoldenEye 007‘s release on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack is very close. So, Nintendo has been promoting the game on social media. For example, Nintendo tweeted out gameplay footage of Golden Eye 007’s Q Watch, which was the game’s pause music.

However, some people, including co-composers Graeme Norgate and Grant Kirkhope, noticed that the pause music is a little different than what they remember. Apparently, a pitched-down cymbal sample is missing and the snare is missing reverb. Unfortunately, the former is also used in the Dam, Facility, and Elevator themes, so the slight changes aren’t just limited to the pause music.

As for what the cause of the problem is, Digital Foundry’s John Linneman suggested that the problem may be due to emulation issues, as the Nintendo 64 isn’t easy to emulate. It is also unknown if the issue is present in the Xbox version that will be releasing on the same day as the Nintendo Switch version.
