HBO has confirmed The Last of Us TV series has been renewed for season 2 following its overwhelming success. Despite only airing two episodes so far, the show has received critical acclaim and has become the most popular show online. Executive vice president of HBO Programming, Francesca Orsi, has said she “can’t wait to watch this team outshine themselves again with season two.”

Producer Craig Mazin is “ready to dive back in”

Mazin seems a certainty to continue directing The Last of Us for season 2 after telling Variety he “couldn’t be more ready to dive back in”. Mazin also said he was “grateful to the millions of people who have joined us on this journey” while executive producer Neil Druckmann has said he is “humbled, honored, and frankly overwhelmed” that so many people have tuned in to the show, even if it is the most torrented TV show at the moment.

The Last of Us Season 2 looks set to tell the entirety of The Last of Us Part II, although the exact details will be confirmed in the future. For now, if you’re wondering what you’re missing, the first episode of the show can be viewed for free on Youtube. Episode 3 is due to air on HBO on Sunday, January 29.
