There’s always a bit of a draw whenever a new game arrives on the Game Pass scene, but smashing its way through the saloon doors today is an older Xbox game that has just been given the Xbox Series X|S treatment.

Weird West first burst onto the scene back in March 2022, as the Day One Game Pass offering debuted on Xbox, PlayStation and PC. It’s a game that we quite enjoyed playing on Xbox One too, slapping a 4/5 review score onto WolfEye Studios and Devolver Digital’s dark fantasy action RPG. In fact, there was little wrong with Weird West as a whole, with the story, the gameplay and the sheer amount of work thrown in to the creation all coming as highlights.

Now that same game turns into Weird West: Definitive Edition, fully optimised for Xbox Series X|S (and PlayStation 5 for that matter), as WolfEye look to utilise the power of the new-gen machines to their full potential. And yes, that means that game is also on Game Pass. New addition to the service? Well yeah, kinda, ish. We’re taking what we can though.

If you haven’t yet played Weird West, then we think you should so, especially now that it is in Definitive Edition form. With Xbox Smart Delivery ensuring that you get to play the best version for your console, 4K Ultra HD support and more, this is a single player experience you should probably take in.

As you probably can guess from the title, Weird West whisks you off to the Wild West, a land where gunslingers rule. It’s up to you to join a ragtag group of heroes as they look to make legend, working their way though the adventures to hand. When you consider that Weird West Definitive Edition has been put together by some of those behind Dishonored and Prey, and well, it makes it all the more enticing.

We’ll look to run review over this Xbox Series X|S version when we can.

For now, hit the Xbox Store to grab a download of Weird West: Definitive Edition on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S. It’ll cost you £33.49 if you don’t have a Game Pass subscription.

And if you’re after more Game Pass joy, then you’ll find a few more games confirmed for later in May. The 11th May sees the intriduction of Fuga 2, you’ll be able to explore the stunning world of Planet of Lana on 23rd May or join the Cassette Beasts on the 25th. You’ll have a few moving out of the service on the 31st May too, but the arrival of the much anticipated Farworld Pioneers should go some way to countering that.

Game Description:

Survive and unveil the mysteries of the Weird West through the intertwined destinies of its unusual heroes in an Action RPG from the co-creators of Dishonored and Prey. Discover a dark fantasy reimagining of the Wild West where lawmen and gunslingers share the frontier with fantastical creatures. Journey through the story of a group of atypical heroes, written into legend by the decisions you make in an unforgiving land. Each journey is unique and tailored to the actions taken – a series of high stakes adventures where everything counts and the world reacts to the choices you make. Form a posse or venture forth alone into an otherworldly confines of the Weird West and make each legend your own
