Prepare to fight for your life in Aliens: Dark Descent

We’ve had a tense solo adventure in Alien Isolation, a taste of squad combat with Aliens: Fireteam Elite – heck, we’ve even had Aliens pinball! And now we can enjoy even more Aliens action with the release of Aliens: Dark Descent on Xbox, PlayStation and PC.

A True Test of Skill

Launching today on Xbox, PlayStation and PC platforms, Focus Entertainment and Tindalos Interactive have brought us one of the most intricate, complex ways to enjoy the xenomorph threat in all its terrifying glory.

Take one look at a screen or video from Aliens: Dark Descent, and you’ll realise that this one is for the true Aliens die-hards – although that’s not to say that anyone couldn’t give it a crack.

The xenomorphs have invaded the Moon Lethe, and it is up to you, as a hardened commander of a Colonel Marines squad, to sweep the tense, dimly-lit buildings on the moon and dispose of the alien threat.

Whilst just one xeno is a cause for concern, when they come in swathes your tactical nous will be tested in frantic real-time combat. Throw in rogue soldiers from the Weyland-Yutani Corp, as well as new threats to the Aliens franchise, and you’ll be constantly switching your tactics to suit the new opposition.

You are the Commander

As the commander, the decisions that you make in combat will carve out the fate of your squad. One wrong move and you could lose members to the true terror – permadeath!

In order to ensure everyone makes it home alive, you’ll have to sweep every area thoroughly, find shortcuts through the levels, and make use of motion sensors to locate and eliminate the threat.

Each soldier of yours can be meticulously customised and upgraded, with a range of weapons and perks available to you. Variety is the spice of life in Aliens: Dark Descent, so ensure you have a man for every job – hacker, welder, tank etc. You’ll also have the pleasure of managing each soldier’s vitals – health and even sanity must be taken into account.
