Saudi-funded Savvy Games was partner involved with failed Embracer Group deal

Embracer Group is known for being the owners of various franchises, including Tomb Raider, Lord of the Rings and Saints Row. Earlier this year, Embracer Group confirmed that a “transformative” partnership with another company fell apart. However, they had never named the company that they were attempting to partner up with.

Well, now we know. Axios has found out that the unknown partner involved with the collapsed $2,000,000,000 deal was actually Savvy Games Group, a company funded by the government of Saudi Arabia. It’s not the first time that the Saudi government has tried to invest in the video gaming industry. In fact, as of this year, the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund currently has a 8.26% stake in Nintendo.
