Gamescom was a great chance for European gamers to try out the latest and greatest upcoming games for a variety of platforms. Today, Eurogamer and also VGC report that Nintendo used the opportunity to demo their next Switch system to developers behind closed doors. Neither VGC or Eurogamer were invited to the presentation, so the news comes via their sources. Eurogamer reports that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was demoed on the new system as a tech demo with improved visuals and framerate. It is not clear if it will be released. It seems Nintendo is aiming to launch the successor to the Nintendo Switch in the autumn/fall next year, though this is obviously not confirmed .

One Switch 2 demo is a souped up version of Switch launch title Zelda: Breath of the Wild, designed to hit the Switch 2’s beefier target specs. (To be clear, though – this is just a tech demo. There’s no suggestion the game will be re-released.)
