As the Dia de Muertos Series draws to a close in Forza Horizon 5, the Series is hopefully going to go out with a bang and not a whimper with new tests in the Spring. With a host of things to have a crack at in the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenge for Series 26 Spring, it should hopefully be a memorable week before the reveal of the new Series next week.
Let’s have a look at what is in store for us this week, shall we?.
Part 1: Weekly Car Challenge – Miniature Mayhem
The weekly challenge car this week focuses on a Meyers Manx, a kind of dune buggy looking thing. This started as a homemade prototype made in 1971 by Bruce F Meyers, and it has gone on to be a commercial success.
Should you not have one in your garage, the Auction House seems to be the only place to get one, unless you get lucky with a wheelspin!
Chapter 1 – Old Red
Get in your new car, take it for a spin. Step one complete!
Chapter 2 – Mexican 1000
This car managed to beat others – and motorbikes – to actually win the Mexican 1000 race. To celebrate this, we need to win a dirt race.
I’ve tuned one up a tad to make this easier, share code : 513646280.
Chapter 3 – Bouncing Around
Now we need to earn a Kangaroo skill in Dunas Blancas, which is pretty straightforward. Just keep jumping! Dunas Blancas is on the left of the map.
Chapter 4 – Lightweight Mover
Time to fly!
Now simply earn 5 stars at Danger Signs to complete. The one at the Horizon Mexico Festival site is pretty easy.
Still do that and this week’s challenge will be done, pushing us yet another five points closer to the reward cars that are in place during Series 26.
Part 2: Weekly Challenges, Championships and PR Stunts
With the obligatory driving of a car that no one would ever choose to drive in real life over and done with, it’s time for the meat and drink of the week. Let’s see what’s in place for Spring, shall we?
The Trial -Street Cruising
We need a Retro Sports car to a tuning limit of B Class 700 this week, and so I chose a Skyline because, well, why wouldn’t you? I went for the R33 model from 1997, and the share code is : 224199956.
Should we manage to win two out of three races, a lovely Hoonicorn is ours.
Eventlab 1 – HSKMEETS Presents – Hells Mulege City Circuit.
We need to get tuning to B Class 700 for this race, and so I went with the same Skyline from above, in The Trial. Save the pennies!
A pretty fun layout this one, I’m just not sure about the streetlights in the middle of the road!
The prize for completing this race is a Super Wheelspin.
Eventlab 2 – SUBIE156 PresentsVulcan Raceway
For this Eventlab, we need to use a Modern Sports car, tuned to A Class 800. I used a Toyota GR Supra, and the share code is : 984217186.
A very fast and flowing track with some tricky corners, I liked this one a lot. Yes, you heard me right – I liked an Eventlab again.
Nice wide runoffs on the corners too… Although this is just an observation, I totally didn’t need them or anything. Honest!
But there’s a prize on offer for completion – a Vauxhall Monaro.
PR Stunt 1 – Speed Trap – Callejon
This week the tuning limit for these events is B Class 700, and all the cars have to be Volkswagen.
I went with the same car for all three of these challenges, a VW Golf R from 2014, with share code : 597184084. For this challenge, it is getting through the speed trap at 100 mph or higher.
We get a Super Wheelspin in return though. It’ll do. Like we need wheelspins…
PR Stunt 2 – Trailblazer – Barranco
The target this time is to reach the finish line with 22 seconds left on the clock. Mind the trees and the rocks and you’ll be fine.
Another Super Wheelspin awaits.
PR Stunt 3 – Drift Zone – Giro Encorvado
Here we need to score over 19,000 drift points, on a short course. This may be tricky.
Your best bet is to hit the line sliding and you’ll stand a chance. Plenty of handbrake!
Yet another Super Wheelspin to add to the pile.
Seasonal Championship 1 – Field Trip
Tuning Limit of D Class 500, and the category is Cult Cars.
There is not a lot of choice here, but I went with a Datsun 510, and the share code is : 161701898.
For winning outright solo, or best two out of three in a convoy, we can take home a Toyota FJ40.
Part 3: Other Challenges
There’s always more to get involved in than just the racing, and that is the case again this week.
There’s the Photo Challenge, and a Treasure Hunt to get stuck into. There’s also the Eliminator present and correct once more.
Photo Challenge – #FORDSANDROSES
This time the subject of the photo challenge is a 2018 Ford Mustang GT, and the location is the Mision Santa Rosalia de Mulege. The twist is that we need to use the portrait preset, so dive into the menus ([press Y in photo mode) and make it so. If you’re struggling, it is the last option in the menu, press right once to make it portrait mode.
I’ll post the location below along with my artistic effort right at the top of this article. Let me know what you think.
The reward? A new car horn called “Beautiful Morning”. Perfect.
Treasure Hunt – The Spirit of Horizon
The clue this time reads “Entertain the 25,000 large crowd at this Mexican Festival. Do you have the skills to do it?” and is accompanied by a picture of an old Ford Hot-Rod.
I’m guessing we need to score 25,000 skill score at a festival site in an old Ford? Well, it turns out you can do it in any car, so I used a drift car and tore up the runway to finish this challenge.
Nail the target and the chest will be revealed! I’ll share the location of the treasure chest below. It contains 100,000 credits, which is nice.
The Eliminator – Battle Royale
It be Eliminator time, and luckily you don’t have to win the whole thing, just survive into the top 30. Should be easy enough, right?
Well, if anyone does have any tips about how to win the whole thing, please share them and I’ll be eternally grateful, as it is the only achievement I have yet to unlock in the base game. Pretty please?
For doing this, we can take home a Ford Capri Mk1.
Horizon Tour – Co-Op Championships
As a bonus this week, we need to complete a Horizon Tour. This could be any class, so no recommendations from me, but simply complete three races against the AI Driverbots, and two point to point races against the actual humans in the lobby, and you too can win a massive prize.
A massive 8 points towards the weekly car prizes!
Part 4: Hot Wheels Events
If you have the Hot Wheels expansion and are an Elite Level player, then you get to enjoy a couple of extra events.
Seasonal PR Stunt – Danger Sign – Ice Crash
This week, we are limited to the same restrictions as previously, a B Class 700 Volkswagen
Now, VW’s aren’t famed for their jumping, to be fair, and so I went with a Golf R from 2021, and the share code is : 906454196.
Starting as far away round the bottom of the track will help. I hit the ramp at 135 mph and jumped 300m, easily beating the 241m target
A Super Wheelspin is your reward. Yes, you read that right – Another Super Wheelspin.
Seasonal Championship – Fastest Car in the Sky
It is time for a Super Saloon, tuned to S1 Class 900, and of the not massive choice I went with a Porsche Panamera Turbo, and the share code is : 169618806.
Completing the championship will get us a #13 Ford Mustang…
Part 5: Rally Adventure Events
The Rally Adventure expansion brings even more events to the roster and provided you are already a Horizon Badlands champion, you’ll get access to…
Seasonal PR Stunt – Speed Zone – Reservoir View
Same car limit, but a bit of light speeding to do. We need to make sure we average over 60 mph through this zone, and so I went with a Golf R from 2021 as it is on road. The share code for mine is : 906454196.
The prize is another Super Wheelspin. Have we run out of decent prizes or what?
Seasonal Championship – Pick ‘N’ Mix
This time we need an Oddball Rally car, tuned to S2 Class 998. Now, this isn’t a class I am familiar with, but luckily I can use my BMW X5M FE for this event, and the share code is : 519084427. I love this thing, it is utterly bonkers.
For winning out, we can take away a VW Class 5 Bug, which is a bit slower than the Beemer!
With Series 26 complete, the Series reward motors are right up for grabs. This time around they are a Ferrari 250GT for 80 points, and for 160 pts it is a Ferrari F8 Tributo, a hard to find set of wheels.
If you need a few extra points to get you over the line, the monthly Rivals challenges are here; Chihuahua Circuit for proper cars, and Desierto Trail for EV’s. Stick some clean laps and Bob should be the brother of your mother.
4 points are on offer if you return clean laps for each one, so worth having a go at!
Grab enough points and Series 26 Spring will also see you gifted with the exclusive Porsche 356 SL for 20 points. Additionally, for 40 points we can get a Vauxhall Carlton, once debated in Parliament for being just too damn fast!
Next up is Series 27, themed around American Automotive, so join me next week as I attempt to make an American car go round a corner without waving a white flag!
To enjoy these events in the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges, you’ll need a copy of Forza Horizon 5. It’s available on Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and on the cloud via mobile. The Xbox Store will sort you out with a download.
Let us know in the comments if I have helped, hindered or missed the mark with these tunes. And what are you looking for from Series 27? Drop your thoughts in…
