It appears that the reason the computer-generated cutscenes and movies in the Smash Bros franchise stopped is because the team feared leaks. The news was revealed by series creator Masahiro Sakurai in a new episode of his YouTube show, which gives gamers a glimpse behind the scenes of game development. Sakurai says he was all for the CGI movies initially, but he quickly discovered that some overseas media outlets were leaking the footage, which ruined the surprise, so they eventually put a stop to them. Sakurai also says that social media can be bad for story-driven games, given all the leaks.
