Earlier today, Titan Forge Games announced that a sequel to the popular MOBA game Smite is not only in the works, but it will be entering alpha testing this spring. Smite had been released on the Nintendo Switch, so it was only a matter of time before the developers of Smite 2 were asked about whether its sequel would be doing the same.

Well, that is what happened. Tech Radar reached out to Titan Forge Games to find out if Smite 2 will be coming to Nintendo Switch. According to Smite executive producer Alex Cantatore, “we’re concerned that currently, with the power level of Switch and the minimum specs that we’re targeting, we just aren’t sure that we’d be able to develop or deliver a really good experience to people playing on Switch currently. Smite’s been everywhere we can possibly get it to run well, and I would expect that to continue with Smite 2. We’re just not sure we’d be able to get it running well on Switch 1, unfortunately”.

As for why Cantatore refers to it as the Switch 1, he did say that the team are “willing to keep an open mind” and re-examine future platforms that become available, including a more powerful version of the Switch, the Switch 2. However, Cantatore does make it clear that he has no knowledge of one.
