It’s probably the most anticipated game of the year so far, and most definitely the most hyped fighter. Are you ready to dive headfirst into Tekken 8?
From the Bandai Namco team, Tekken 8 is the hotly anticipated next installment in the long running franchise. And it’s a game that is threatening to hit hard, and with style. Delivered to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC, if it’s state of the art fighting visuals you are after, and new rivalries to make, Tekken 8 should be on your list.
Tekken 8 hits out on Xbox, PlayStation, PC
Available right now across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC (yep, no old-gen play here), Tekken 8 ushers forth a new era for fighting games. It’s a game that has found pride of place in our January big hitters article, and after a beta, we were more than up for the fight.
That fight begins now. With a roster of cracking characters, a new battle system, series signature elements and more, this could well be seen as many gamers’ #1 3 D fighter. It’s probably helped by the inclusion of photorealistic visuals, epic feuds, a deep story and an all-new Heat System.
It’s all powered by Unreal Engine 5, ensuring that Tekken 8 looks to push the power of Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC to the utter limits. Drop in multiple game modes – Arcade, Tekken Ball, Versus – and you should have what you want from a fighter.
We’ve been hands-on with Tekken 8 for a little while and have produced a full review of the game on Xbox Series X|S. Give it a read if you want to know more about how this one plays, how the 16 Battle Stages work, and how the 32 playable characters are wormed in.
What version of Tekken 8 should you buy?
From there, you should head to the digital store of your choosing. For us Xbox Series X|S players, it’s the Xbox Store that will sort out the download needed. And Tekken 8 comes in various forms too. There’s the Standard Edition for £69.99, whilst the Tekken 8 Deluxe Edition adds in a Playable Character Year 1 Pass, four additional characters, a Kinjin Avatar Skin, Gold Suit Pack and extra costumes for each playable character. Obviously that is going to be more expensive, running a £94.99 price tag.
But there’s more and Tekken 8 Ultimate Edition ups the asking price even more. £104.99 is a hefty chunk of cash, but pay up and you’ll be treated to a ton. There’s everything included in the Deluxe Edition here, plus an Avatar Costume: Classic TEKKEN T-Shirt Set, 32 more designs and further Avatar Skins for Kazuya Mishima, Jin Kazama, and Jun Kazama. Will your wallet stretch that far? Let us know in the comments.
Everything present on the Xbox Store should also be available across digital stores for PlayStation and PC too.
