SEGA is not happy with how its titles performed during the all-important Christmas period, saying that sales were “weak” and “sluggish.” Because of this, the company has issued a financial warning. One of the games mentioned by SEGA was Sonic Superstars, which didn’t perform to expectation, though it clearly faced the huge challenge of competing directly against the sublime, Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

“In the Consumer area, although we released some new titles in Q3, including Sonic Superstars, Endless Dungeon, and Total War: Pharaoh, sales went sluggish during the holiday sales season.”
