Yacht Club Games officially premiered a new presentation earlier today, which was heavily focused on Shovel Knight to celebrate the franchise’s 10th anniversary. Many things were announced, including an enhanced version of the original Shovel Knight, but the final announcement of the presentation was the biggest one of all.

Yacht Club Games ended the presentation by announcing that a brand new Shovel Knight game is currently in development. The company says that the game is not a sequel, but “a bold new adventure that will launch Shovel Knight into an entirely new dimension of gaming”. It will “honor the legacy” of Shovel Knight, but also provide “groundbreaking, innovating gameplay mechanics”.

Lastly, the game will have “electrifying action, richer mechanics, and all the timeless charm you expect from a Shovel Knight title”. There is no release date at this time, and availability on platforms such as the Nintendo Switch isn’t known at this time. For now, Yacht Club Games recommends players play previous games in the franchise because they all have “hidden details” relating to the new game.
