The classic Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire games for the GameBoy Advance were originally going to be titled Pokemon Indigo and Crimson. The news emerged via data miners who were combining through files and found “藍バージョン” and “朱バージョン” which translates to Indigo Version and Crimson Version, which are seemingly earlier names for Pokémon Sapphire Version and Pokemon Ruby Version. It’s not clear why Game Freak decided to change the final names.
