If summer 2024 was somewhat lacking in big hitters then get ready to fall into the bounty of games coming your way in the first month of autumn. We’ve got 19 outstanding new Xbox and Game Pass games to share with you this September.
The question is, what will you be playing? There are tons to choose from…
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions
And talking about big hitters, flying in first to our list is the much anticipated Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, a game all about hitting balls into hoops while flying on a broomstick.
We know that Quidditch makes absolutely no sense as a sport but we’re hoping that the video game version will be as good as our last outing to Hogwarts.
Like many other sports titles, you can choose to dive into career mode or jump straight into the action, playing solo or in online co-op with up to three players, competing against other Quidditch teams.
Star Trucker
If you thought traversing across Alaska in a truck was tricky then you ain’t seen nothin’ yet!
Hop into the driver’s seat of a rocket-powered big rig and embark on a space-trucking adventure across the galaxy with Star Trucker, coming to Game Pass day one. Engage warp speed and get ready to cruise hyper highways, transporting goods and possibly a bit of contraband, use the fully voiced CB radio to chat with truckers and plan your route as you explore the ultimate open road – space!
Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown
If driving on Earth is more your thing then Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown could be top of your September downloads. The game returns many years after its predecessor. It’s an open-world racer where players will get to explore a fully recreated Hong Kong Island filled with diverse streets, highways and scenic roads that you’ll get to race around in iconic cars from over 30 top manufacturers.
Oh – and there’s also some stuff about chatting with friends and joining clans in community hubs which looks to be a point of difference compared to other driving games. Whether it adds anything positive to the experience, we’ll have to wait and see.
The Casting of Frank Stone
What do you get if you cross the chilling atmosphere of Dead by Daylight with the storytelling mastery of Supermassive Games?
Well, possibly something like The Casting of Frank Stone, a horror game set in the eerie Dead by Daylight universe.
This is not asymmetric horror but a narrative-based game that asks players to delve into a mystery, where every choice shapes the story and the fate of its characters. Be prepared to be very unsettled.
The Jackbox Naughty Pack
And now for another R rated game, but for very different reasons. The Jackbox Naughty Pack is a risque adults-only version of the popular party game pack. The game promises a threesome of fun with a triple threat of naughty games that will bring some heat to your next gathering.
Just make sure you don’t invite Granny.
Parcel Corps
Edit: Parcel Corps has now been delayed and will not release in September
If you’ve been waiting in line at your favourite fast food place, spotted the couriers and wondered what their job must be like then think no longer as you can get to experience the high-octane thrill-rid of transporting goods across the city in Parcel Corps!
With fluid movement and colourful graphics reminiscent of Sunset Overdrive, you’ll master your biking skills to navigate vibrant cityscapes, catch air and defy gravity.
Ace Attorney Investigations Collection
Ace Attorney Investigations Collection looks very similar to Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy, released in January, but that doesn’t mean we’re not excited for it. After spending a bit of time with the game in preview, there’s enough about this one to warrant a look.
Ace Attorney Investigations Collection contains two remastered games where players step into the shoes of legal eagle ace prosecutor Miles Edgeworth and leave the courtroom to examine crime scenes, interrogate people of interest and use their powers of deduction to solve tough cases.
We’re deducing that if you liked Apollo Justice then this might be worth a purchase.
NBA 2K25
Another September, another NBA game. How different will it be to last year’s offering? Who knows.
What we do know is that the game is being powered by ProPLAY, which allows you to experience the action with signature moves and realistic gameplay. You can dominate in MyCAREER by surpassing legends and creating a dynasty or step into MyTEAM and build your ultimate roster, challenge rivals, and prove you’re the best in King of the Court.
EA SPORTS FC 25
If you like your balls kicked rather than bounced then you’re probably more excited about the return of the next installment of the franchise formally known as FIFA.
EA SPORTS FC 25 promises new features including the ability to build a 5-aside team with friends and enhanced tactical gameplay with realistic team movement and AI-driven strategies. Manager and Player Career modes now feature Live Start Points for real-world storylines, plus there’s the addition of an authentic Women’s Career experience.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2
It’s been a whole seven months since a Warhammer 40,000 game has hit Xbox. The supermassive series now continues with Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, which promises epic battles across distant planets, devastating weaponry and superhuman skills.
Whether you choose to play solo or team up with up to two friends in 3-player co-op, you’ll uncover dark secrets and face endless waves of enemies.
Wild Bastards
Another shooty-shooty game (technical term) up next with Wild Bastards.
Sharing the gun-slinging gameplay and distinctive cartoony graphics as its predecessor from 2019, Void Bastards, Wild Bastards sees you travel from planet to planet to recruit, manage and gun sling with a team of 13 outlaws in a sci-fi take on the western genre.

Selfloss
Let’s calm things down now with Selfloss, an emotional adventure game set in a Slavic-inspired, whale-worshiping fantasy realm.
Join Kazimir, an old healer, on a journey across land and sea in search of a ritual to heal his soul wound. Armed with a magical staff, Kazimir uses its light to fight enemies, solve puzzles, and cleanse the land.
Looking similar in style to a game that claimed a coveted place on our favourite games of last year, Cocoon, we are excited to find out if Selfloss will join this year’s roster.
Yars Rising
From WayForward, creators of Shantae and River City Girls, comes Yars Rising, a 2D action-adventure reimagining Atari’s classic.
You play as Emi Kimura, a young hacker hired to infiltrate the mysterious QoTech corporation. Featuring intense platforming, stealth sections and hacking minigames along with WayForward’s distinctive anime art style and vibrant environments,
Yars Rising celebrates the Yars franchise while offering a modern twist. Plus, you can play the original Yars’ Revenge from the main menu.
Funko Fusion
We’ve loved being able to recreate scenes from our favourite movies in the form of LEGO characters – now imagine a game packed full of puzzles and battles featuring the bobble-headed Funko Pop! Characters from loads of different movies and TV shows.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster
Journalist Frank West gets to cover all the best stories – mostly involving zombies in the Dead Rising games.
This month, you can return to where it all began – the zombie-infested mall in Willamette, Colorado and try your best to fight off the hordes and survive for 72 hours.
The original Dead Rising returns with a Deluxe Remaster that goes beyond a simple update, offering a full graphical overhaul of the original zombie-slaying game. With modernised visuals powered by the RE ENGINE, including enhanced character expressions, textures and blood effects, the chaos looks more real than ever.
So grab…well whatever you can and let’s kill some zombies!
Pneumata
Things are getting scary yet again with Pneumata, a Lovecraftian survival horror experience, blending disturbing, brutal gameplay with psychological terror.
You’ll play as Homicide detective David Hernandez investigating a series of brutal murders deep in the Missouri countryside. Given your traumatic brain injury and the grief from losing your wife, can you truly trust everything you see?
Bloomtown: A Different Story
The summer might be over but you can relive those halcyon days, sort of, in Bloomtown: A different Story.
In this narrative JRPG you play as Emily, a 12-year-old girl spending her summer in her grandpa’s quiet, seemingly idyllic 1960s Americana town. But, it’s not long before a different story starts to play out as things take a dark turn with children disappearing and nightmares becoming real. With turn-based combat, monster taming and social RPG elements, Emily and her friends must battle monstrous manifestations of residents’ fears and vices to save Bloomtown.
A veritable feast of new Xbox and Game Pass titles releasing on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One this September then, so much so that we think this is our biggest ‘Up Next’ article ever.
But October looks to continue the trend. We’re not really sure when we’re going to get time to play them, but expect a new SWORD ART ONLINE experience, the brilliant looking Sky Oceans: Wings for Hire, more DRAGON BALL with Sparkling Zero, Metaphor: ReFantazio, New World Aeternum, Smurfs Dreams, Sonic X Shadows Generations, a new Life is Strange and a ton more to drop onto our consoles.
In fact, our October article may be pushing this September one, both in terms of quantity and quality.
