Players think PSVR 2 or its successor may be going wireless after they noticed a curious icon in an image published on the PS Blog. Yesterday, Sony rolled out a major PS5 system update, which included the new ‘Welcome Hub‘ feature for select players. The Welcome Hub allows players to have widgets that display battery level for various accessories. Sony provided a screenshot showcasing the feature, which contained a battery level icon for the PSVR 2 headset.

Is PSVR 2 going wireless or did Sony make a mistake?

Since the PSVR 2 headset is wired, the image caught everyone’s attention. For those wondering, the Sense controllers have their own battery information icon, so no, the two aren’t being confused.

Interestingly, Sony has since replaced the screenshot in question, further fueling speculations. You can see the original screenshot with the PSVR headset charging icon below, courtesy of Reddit user Divisionlo:

It’s hard to say if Sony made a mistake or ended up accidentally leaking a wireless VR headset. It’s possible that the artist tasked with putting together a mock screenshot added the image in error, and it wasn’t checked before being published on the PS Blog.

We’ll find out in due course what this is all about.
