It’s hard to believe, looking back over the past few years, that we are in Series 38 Summer of the Forza Horizon 5 Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges. In that time, Forza Horizon 5 has changed a lot, as has the rest of the world – but the fact remains that there will be a series of events to chat about, with various cars to race and plenty of tunes to enjoy. And this time we’re doing it with the Hidden Horizons series.

Introducing the new Hide & Seek mode to Forza Horizon 5 and the weekly playlist certainly mixes things up a bit, but I’ll be right here with the rest of the tunes and cars you are going to need in order to find success through this series. Let’s go!

Part 1: Weekly Car Challenge – Fruits of your Labor

The 1965 Peel Trident is the subject of this week’s car challenge, and while back in the day it was advertised as “Cheaper than walking” at only £190, I fear inflation may have a different price in store for us.

Should you not have one already, go and buy it from the Autoshow – they will exchange it for 25,000 of your credits.

Chapter 1 – Saloon Scooter

Get in your new car, take it for a spin. Step one complete. Turns out it’s slower than walking, too…

Chapter 2 – Tortoise and Hare

We now have to upgrade the car to B Class or above, and win three stars at a speed zone .Look for share name “Tri” with my GT, Red620Ti. 292BHP makes it a vivid experience!

Chapter 3 – A-Peel-ing Victory.

Win a road or drag race. I’d suggest a drag race, as the handling is… interesting.

Chapter 4 – Cherry Picked

Take a photo. Easy!

Complete these tasks and we will be five points closer to the seasonal prizes that are up for grabs with Forza Horizon 5’s Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges for Series 38.

Part 2: Weekly Challenges, Championships and PR Stunts

With the weekly challenge done and dusted, let’s dive into the rest of the mayhem on offer.

The Trial, one Eventlab, PR Stunts, races – that’s what you are getting with Series 38 summer. All seems a bit familiar!

The Trial – Secret Service

Last week, for the first time in a long time, I actually found a team who wanted to race and give each other room. I about fell out of my chair!

This week the theme is Cars from the UK, with a tuning limit of B Class 700. It looks a bit off-roady, so I chose a Mini, the X-Raid All 4 Racing Countryman to be exact, and the share code is : 183453347.

Let’s hope the racing gods smile down on us this week, as we attempt to win a Jaguar i-Pace.

Eventlab 1 – R3VOLV3R5840 Presents Meereen Creek Oasis

The class here is a Modern or Retro Rally, tuned to B Class 700. The answer to that question is always the Evo VIII MR, and the share code for mine is : 141172186.

A course with nothing to dislike, but nothing to get excited about either – plain vanilla. 4 laps is too many, mind.

A Super Wheelspin is the prize. Yes, another.

PR Stunt 1 – Danger Sign – Boardwalk

This week, all the PR stunts need the same car, an A Class 800 Mitsubishi, so I chose an Evo VII MR again, but slightly turned up! The share code is : 155014585.

Jump over 100m to win. I had to hit the ramp at 96 mph to jump far enough.

Do so and you’ll find a Super Wheelspin heading your way in return.

PR Stunt 2 – Speed Zone – Punto de Vista

An average speed test this time, and the target is 80 mph.

Another Super Wheelspin awaits.

Seasonal Championship 1 – Cat’s out the Bag

We need a Barn Find car, tuned to A Class 800 to take part here. I went with a BMW 2002 Turbo, share name “2002” with my GT, Red620Ti. Rear wheel drive makes it exciting!

For winning out, we can take home a Jaguar E-Type.

Seasonal Championship 2 – Built Tough

We need to grab a Pickup or 4X4, tune it to B Class 700, and then go racing. I chose a Chevy Colorado ZR2, in search of something a bit different. The share code is : 153915151.

The prize for winning is a Mitsubishi Evo X.

Seasonal Championship 2 – 3AM Zoomies

In keeping with the theme that seems to be developing, we need an A Class 800 Jaguar to take part here. I chose an XJ220, because why wouldn’t you, and the share code is : 123500759.

We can win a Renault Megane R26.R, so totally worthwhile.

Part 3: Other Challenges

A good mix of things to try this week, with a photo, a treasure hunt, some Hide and Seek, and a Horizon Tour. Keep us out of mischief, right?

Photo Challenge – #EXPEDITION

Take a photo of a statue this week, no car needed…

We have to find and photograph the Detective Tank in Ek Balam. He’s tucked away, so check the photo and map to find him.

Enjoy my artistic effort up at the top of this piece. The location you need to be in is below.

The reward? A Camo race suit. Make sure you don’t get run over!

Treasure Hunt – EV-en the Odds

The clue reads “Charge ahead speed through the zone, 6 stars your target to be shown!”.

Not rocket science this week, is it? Get in an EV and earn  6 stars at a Speed Zone. Again, the main festival site is short.

The chest contains 100 FP, and the location is shown below.

Horizon Tour – Co-op Racing

Time to race and play nicely with others, over a series of races against driverbots and each other. Complete the tour to unlock an amazing amount of points!

No tunes for this, as the class is random, but it isn’t too hard.

We will be rewarded to the tune of 8 whole points.

Hide and Seek

Time to play the much hyped new game mode, Hide & Seek. No pointers here, mainly because it is super simple. All I’ll say is that it is a lot easier to be a Hider than a Seeker…

Take home a Super Wheelspin, to add to the collection.

Part 4: Hot Wheels Events

If you have the Hot Wheels expansion and are an Elite Level player, then you get to enjoy a couple of extra events.

Seasonal PR Stunt – Speed Trap – Horizon Nexus

The vehicles for the PR Stunts in the next two sections are the same, a B Class Volkswagen. I chose a Golf R from 2021, share name “R” with my GT, Red620Ti.

160 mph is your target, which is a lot! Approach from the north for best results. The little Golf topped out at 215 mph!

A Super Wheelspin is your reward.

Seasonal Championship – Flex Those Muscles

For this event, a Modern Muscle car tuned to S1 Class 900 is required, and so the answer is, as usual, a Mustang. The Shelby GT500 from 2020 to be precise, share code : 335181307.

Completing the championship will get us a Mustang, a #13 one.

Part 5: Rally Adventure Events

The Rally Adventure expansion brings even more events to the roster and provided you are already a Horizon Badlands champion, you’ll get access to the following couple of events…

Seasonal PR Stunt – Speed Zone – Devils Pass

Same car rules. Same car!

We need to hit over 73 mph through the zone to win out. Approaching from the south is marginally easier.

The prize is another Super Wheelspin. Another.

Seasonal Championship – C for Classic

We need a Classic Rally car here, tuned to C Class 600, and so the choice was the Mini

Cooper S from 1965, share code : 176823547.

The reward for racing? A Lotus Cortina

The rewards for Series 38 and Summer in Forza Horizon 5

With Series 38 starting out you should be on the way to grabbing some new cars – and for Series 38 that means the Nissan Tsuru for 80 points and a Nissan Safari for 160 points. Series 38 – sponsored by Nissan?

Even more Rivals circuits have now been added with Series 38 – and we are back to only two this week – Plaza Circuit and Lookout Circuit. The prize total stays the same though, 4 points for making sure you turn in a clean lap.

Grab enough points and Series 38 Summer also sees you given access to the exclusive Evo III (nice!) for 20 points. Additionally, for 40 points we can get the Hot Wheels Mustang a hard to find car.

So, with one week down in the Hidden Horizons Series 38, we are looking forward to the next three, as Autumn, Winter and finally Spring will follow with relentless certainty. Stay tuned next week for the next thrilling installment!

To enjoy these events in the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges, you’ll need a copy of Forza Horizon 5. It’s available on Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and on the cloud via mobile. The Xbox Store will sort you out with a download.

Let us know in the comments if I have helped, hindered or missed the mark with these tunes.
