It has been a busy news day for Nintendo fans, mainly due to the rumor mill continuing to produce new rumors at an ever increasing rate. However, you may be surprised to hear that the latest rumor has nothing to do with the next Nintendo console. In fact, it is related to the retro libraries available on Nintendo Switch Online.

You see, a reliable dataminer named LuigiBlood has revealed that the SNES Nintendo Switch Online library has had SNES Mouse support hidden in its coding since launch. There hadn’t been anything new about it since, until the new SNES games were added to the retro library yesterday. According to LuigiBlood, there has been some kind of major rework to the SNES Mouse support code. The additional coding has apparently added SNES Mouse support for both controller ports, the ability to replace inputs of SNES Mouse devices, and even a different behavior mode.

It highly suggests that Nintendo is, at the very least, looking into making SNES Mouse support actually work on the SNES Switch Online emulator. That all said, it is worth noting that Nintendo hasn’t officially announced anything about the matter. It is also worth noting that it is not known at this time whether Nintendo will actually be able to add SNES Mouse support to it in the first place. If there are any further developments about this, we’ll let you know.
