It has been over 7 years now since Fortnite released, and 6 years since it had been officially ported over to the Nintendo Switch. Since then, it has quickly become one of the very few live-service games to see massive success. It has been so successful that even live in-game events can result in many millions of players participating.

For example, there was recently a live event where players had to defeat Doctor Doom. According to Eurogamer, there was a concurrent peak of 5,600,000 players participating in the event. This is Fortnite’s highest concurrent total since the 11,600,000 players that participated in the Big Bang live event last December.
