Sony has released game-of-the-year nominated PlayStation exclusives every year since 2015, with Astro Bot being its 10th consecutive GOTY nomination. The Game Awards 2024 nominees were announced yesterday, with Sony Interactive Entertainment being the leading publisher and PS5 exclusives dominating the list.

PlayStation continues to produce high quality exclusives

As pointed out by Reddit user Zhukov-74, Sony’s GOTY nomination streak started with 2015’s Bloodborne. The following year, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End was nominated for GOTY. In 2017, Horizon Zero Dawn graced the list, and in 2018, both Spider-Man and God of War duked it out for the top prize. God of War won that year.

The years 2020 and 2022 saw a repeat of 2018 in that two Sony first-party exclusives were nominated for the GOTY award. Here’s the full list courtesy of Zhukov-74:

  • 2015 – Bloodborne
  • 2016 – Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
  • 2017 – Horizon Zero Dawn
  • 2018 – Marvel’s Spider-Man / God of War (Winner)
  • 2019 – Death Stranding
  • 2020 – Ghost of Tsushima / The Last of Us Part II (Winner)
  • 2021 – Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
  • 2022 – Horizon Forbidden West / God of War: Ragnarok
  • 2023 – Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

2018’s God of War and The Last of Us Part II are the only two games that emerged victorious.
