Surprise, choom! CD Projekt Red just rolled out a new PS5 update for Cyberpunk 2077. Beyond the usual bug fixes, update 2.2 adds some new customization options so players can run around Night City in even more style.

What is Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.2?

Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.2 adds customization options for both created characters, and vehicles. CD Projekt Red also overhauled its photo mode by adding several community-requested features.

Rayfield’s CrystalCoat technology in Cyberpunk 2077 allows players to customize their vehicles look at any moment. Even during a chase, players can simply change their car’s color scheme to lower their NCPD wanted level. Initially, the tech was only available to Rayfield vehicles. That changes with update 2.2 as other manufacturers have adopted the feature. Herrera, Muzutani, Quadra, and Villefort vehicles can now use CrystalCoat.

Additionally, the new update ushers in Twintone, technology created by Kiroshi that lets players save their favorite vehicle color schemes for a “small fee.” Simply scan a car using Kiroshi optics, switch to the Twintone tab, and save the color scheme. The scheme can be selected from the Twintone database in the CrystalCoat menu. It should be noted that schmes of vehicles connected to quests, NCPD vehicles, or vehicles not compatible with CrystalCoat can’t be cloned.

Several new character customization options were also added to Cyberpunk 2077. This includes an upgrade to the randomizer called the Plain-to-Punk slider. Here is everything added with update 2.2:

  • 32 eye colors
  • 18 lip makeup types
  • 17 nail colors
  • 10 cheek makeup types
  • 16 eye makeup types
  • 4 face scars
  • 5 eyebrow shapes
  • 4 face tattoos
  • 2 body tattoos
  • 8 cosmetic face cyberware options

All of these new customization option can be showcased using the newly added photo mode options. Here are all the community-requested features added to photo mode in the new update:

  • Drone Camera is now a free camera instead of an orbital camera centered around V.
  • Increased camera range.
  • Full Collision (ON/OFF) – determines whether the camera respects in-game object collisions.
  • Lock Camera (ON/OFF) – locks the camera to avoid misclicking and ruining the frame.
  • Precise Camera (ON/OFF) – slows the camera down for easier aiming.
  • Aspect Ratio (PC-only. Custom-resolution screenshots are not available on consoles. Console systems can only export images in the standard 16:9 format.)
  • Characters tab: Spawn up to 3 NPCs for your photo, with a list of over 20 characters to choose from. You can adjust their expression, pose and position.
  • Lighting tab: Spawn and adjust light sources.
  • Fixed the Depth of Field ghosting issue.
  • Added an Effect Intensity slider.

Kiroshi introduces another new technology, this time for V’s apartment. SmartFrames allows players to display their personal photos in their home. By interacting with the picture frames in the apartment, players can browse their photo collection, and choose which pictures to display.

Cyberpunk 2077 also received a fun update for Johnny Silverhand. After Act 1, the Samurai frontman will now sometimes appear in the passenger seat to react to whatever quest V is on. More secrets have been added to Night City, as well.

Players can check out all the bug fixes in the Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.2 post.
