It is the Autumn of Series 42 in Forza Horizon 5, specifically the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges. While the weather outside the window is decidedly chilly (-3 this morning as I tried to defrost the car!) in Mexico, it is stormy season. So, blowing into town (see what I did there?) is a whole list of new things to do and races to win.
The challenges are waiting, are you ready? I’ve got the tunes and the best cars for the job…
Part 1: Weekly Car Challenge – Situated Beyond
We need to buy and drive a 2015 Ultima Evolution Coupe 1020. Not the shortest name ever!
This is seemingly a lightweight body wrapped around a huge engine, and that means this promises to be a memorable drive.
Should you not have one in your garage, they are on sale at the Autoshow, priced at 300,000 Credits. Hope you have deep pockets…
If not, simply win the “Zero to Hero” championship in the Hot Wheels park to get one for free.
Chapter 1 – Ultimate Ultima
Get in your new car, take it for a spin. Step one complete.
Chapter 2 – DIY
As this car could be built at home, we now need to spend 25,000 credits on upgrades. Look for share name “ULT” or “ULT2” for a quick way to do this.
Chapter 3 – Supersonic
This car can do 0-100 mph in just 4.9 seconds, so now we need to win the Festival Drag Strip race. Easy!
Chapter 4 – In the Fast Lane
Now we simply need to drive over 180 mph for 10 seconds. This tune tops at out at over 240, so no probs!
Complete these tasks and we will be five points closer to the seasonal prizes that are up for grabs with Forza Horizon 5’s Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges for Series 42.
Part 2: Weekly Challenges, Championships and PR Stunts
With the weekly challenge done and dusted, let’s dive into the rest of the mayhem on offer.
Series 42 Autumn welcomes The Trial, just the two Eventlab, a couple of PR Stunts, some races…
The Trial – Corvetting the Competition
This week, the challenge is to take a B Class 700 Corvette and do some racing.
I went with the 1970 Corvette ZR-1, and the share name is “ZR1” with my GT, Red620Ti.
Last week was a triumph, with a new personal best of two 1st’s and a 2nd in the series of races. Let’s hope I can keep it up!
We will attempt to win a Formula Drift Corvette.
Eventlab 1 – ALLANENDOPAY Presents El Toro Scramble
We can only use S1 Class Rally Monsters here, so it’s time for that Hoonigan Escort RS1800 again! Share code : 264985022. I love this thing.
It was only because I was driving my fave car that I stuck with this. Messy, badly designed, and with the world’s biggest chicane that ruins the flow. Unfortunately, this is the worst Eventlab I can remember.
The prize is a Super Wheelspin. Sigh.
Eventlab 2 – THEFILTHYHONEY Presents Castle Courtyard
A Class 800 “Truck vs Nomad” is the restriction here, so I chose an Ariel Nomad, share code : 144860625.
I had a lot of fun with this one, a well designed and laid out track that challenged me. Good work!
We can win a Barbie Corvette.
PR Stunt 1 – Speed Trap – Drag Strip
This week, all the PR Stunts need a S2 Class 998 Rimac car. I chose the Nevera. Share name for mine is “Nevera” and the GT is Red620Ti.
We need to hit 230 mph to win out. Take a run up past the airplane.
If you do it, take a Super Wheelspin home.
PR Stunt 2 – Speed Trap – Estadio
Same car for this, I fancy.
Hit the trap at north of 200 mph to win out.
Another Super Wheelspin awaits.
PR Stunt 3 – Speed Trap – Federal Highway
Same car again.
Hit the trap at over 280 mph to win out. It tops out at 286, so keep the hammer down.
Another Super Wheelspin.
Seasonal Championship 1 – Foto Opportunity
Offroad and B Class 700 means I grab the keys to the Ford Ranger Rally Raid T6, and the share code for mine is: 166960440.
For winning out, we can take home a Rally Fighter.
Seasonal Championship 2 – A Pretty Swede Deal
Gonna go ahead and assume we aren’t competing for root vegetables!
We need a “Rare Classic” tuned to B Class 700 for this.
I chose a Ferrari 365 GTB/4, and the share code for mine is : 767151197.
For winning, it is a Koenigsegg CC8S that is the prize.
Part 3: Other Challenges
The Treasure Hunt returns, alongside the other usual nonsense. Keep us out of mischief, eh?
Photo Challenge – #STUNTPARADISE
Photograph any Hoonigan at the Stadium Stunt Park. Simples!
See the top of the piece for my artistic effort.
The location you need to be in is below.
The reward? A Farid Rueda Lion Race Suit. No lions were hurt in the making of this suit.
Horizon Arcade – Mini Games
Complete Round 3 of any of the Horizon Arcade scenarios. They are Drift, Speed, Wreckage, Chaos and Air, and of these, Drift is of course the best.
Take home a whole 3 points for this. Hardly worth bothering!
Treasure Hunt – Charmed, I’m Sure
The clue reads “Hypercars turn up the charm by five as they narrowly avoid others on the highway”.
So, five near miss skills on the main highway in a hypercar? Got it. I used a stock Hennessey Venom F5, as they don’t come much hyper-er!
The treasure chest contains 300 FP, and the location is shown below.
Part 4: Hot Wheels Events
If you have the Hot Wheels expansion and are an Elite Level player, then you get to enjoy a couple of extra events.
Seasonal PR Stunt – Danger Sign – Forest Leap
We need an S2 Class 998 Extreme Track toy for this, so the Bugatti Divo will suffice. Share code : 169915677.
Jump over 400 m to win out. Hitting the ramp at over 215 mph was simples.
A Super Wheelspin is your reward.
Seasonal Championship – Zero to Hero
The class this time is A Class 800 Sports Utility Hero, and so the Bentley Bentayga gets my vote, share code : 118484657.
The reward for racing? An Ultima Evo, which we need at the start of this article.
Part 5: Rally Adventure Events
The Rally Adventure expansion brings even more events to the roster and provided you are already a Horizon Badlands champion, you’ll get access to the following couple of events…
Seasonal PR Stunt – Danger Sign – Canyon Snap
We need an S2 Class 998 car for this, and as it is off road, I think the time is right for the BMW X5 M FE to make a comeback. Share code is : 519084427.
Jump over 350 m to win out. Hitting the ramp at 170 mph (ish) made me clear it.
The prize is another Super Wheelspin. Sigh.
Seasonal Championship – In the Hot Seat
C Class 600 Retro Hot hatches are needed here, and so the stock Civic Type R from 2004 gets my nod.
Completing the championship will get us an Ariel Nomad.
The rewards for Series 42 and Autumn in Forza Horizon 5
With Series 42 just getting out of the blocks, the reward cars start coming up – It’s the Radical RXC for 80 points and a Hot Wheels Twin Mill for 160 points that are up for grabs. Play your cards right and the first should be in your hot little hands this week.
Even more Rivals circuits have now been added with Series 42 – only two this time around though. There is the Tierra Prospero Circuit for petrol heads, and the Ek Balam Cross Country Circuit for those who get a charge out of EV’s. (Sorry). The prize total stays the same though, 4 points for making sure you turn in a clean lap.
Grab enough points and Series 42 Autumn also sees you given access to the Hoonigan Hoonicorn V2, non exclusive, for 20 points. Additionally, for 40 points we can get a Backstage Pass, and these can be swapped for hard to find cars in the game. Handy!
With the new year and the new series off to a good start, join us again next week as we make more suggestions about what to drive and when as the challenges for Winter and Spring pop up!
To enjoy these events in the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges, you’ll need a copy of Forza Horizon 5. It’s available on Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and on the cloud via mobile. The Xbox Store will sort you out with a download.
Let us know in the comments if I have helped, hindered or missed the mark with these tunes.
