The rumor mill keeps churning for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake. This time around, details about how the remake will significantly improve several gameplay systems have been unearthed.

As reported by MP1st, the leaked The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake details comes from a former Virtuos employee, the studio reportedly working on this reimagining of the beloved Bethesda RPG. The individual’s website confirms the existence of the title, that it utilizes Unreal Engine 5, and that is a “full” remake. The site also gives a brief descriptions of the game’s reworked stamina, sneak, blocking, archer, hit reaction, and HUD features.

The new blocking system is inspired by the Soulslike genre. According to the report, the reasoning behind this change was because the original system was “boring” and “frustrating.”

Highlighted sneak icons will help improve the previous sneak system.

“The stamina system was modified to be less frustrating for the player, making the knockdown that occurs when stamina is depleted more difficult to activate through changes in calculation methods,” according to the report. “The HUD was changed to make it easier to understand and more aesthetically appealing to young players.”

“Hit reactions were also added to improve the response to damage inflicted on the player and NPCs,” continues the report. “Finally, Archery was improved to make it more playable and modern in both third and first-person viewpoints.”

Last month, leaker Extas1s claimed The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake will release sometime in 2025. They also speculated it would be revealed at an Xbox Direct in January.

That Xbox Direct was announced earlier this month. The Xbox Developer Direct returns on January 23, 2025. It features three games, including upcoming PS5 game Doom: The Dark Ages. There is a surprise mystery game some believed would be The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake. However, Jez Corden of Windows Central claims that game will be “a new entry in a legendary Japanese IP which has decades of history.”

Of course, like any leaks and rumors of this nature, take it with a grain of salt. We will know more when and if it formally gets revealed.
