Inspired by the classics of horror, Omen of Sorrow sees Xbox and PC players given the chance to join the battle, and conquer the darkness.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam, Omen of Sorrow comes out of the eastasiasoft and AOne Games teams to deliver some classic 4-button mashing to the modern day audience.

This throws you into the underworld, just as a new terror has been unleashed – it’s up to you to put it back in its place, fighting back against all manner of oddities.

With monsters inspired by the classics of horror, drawn out of literature and mythology, like Frankenstein’s monster and the Egyptian high priest Imhotep, you can be sure there will be foes listed here whom you wouldn’t have come up against previous. The roster looks pretty varied in fact and when you include the usual cinematic finishes that we have now come to know and expect, Omen of Sorrow possibly has the lot.

It’s powered by Unreal Engine 4 too, so that’s a plus, visually detailed with handcrafted animations and pushed along with a soundtrack by the composer Francisco Cerda. What’s more, the release on Xbox comes with previously downloadable countess Erzsébet in the main roster, all with her blood dragon at her beck and call.

If you’re up for a brawler that comes with a skill-centred spin, then Omen of Sorrow could well be one to keep an eye on. We’re currently pounding our way through a review and will be sure to let you know how this plays on Xbox as soon as we can.

In the meantime, the Xbox Store will sort you out with a download for £16.74. You’ll find the game over on Steam too.
