Respawn Entertainment has a secret third game in development alongside Apex Legends and a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Up until recently, the game’s Creative Director was Mohammad Alavi. We say “recently” because Alavi recently announced he had left Respawn to head on his “next adventure”. Despite his departure, development of the game will continue.

What is Respawn’s third game?

Respawn has previously described the game as a single-player adventure title. According to VentureBeat, the game is a AAA first-person shooter that is “striving for “mobility” and “style” as guiding principles”. Despite this description’s similarity to the Titanfall franchise, the game is not a sequel to either Titanfall or Titanfall 2. The title is currently in the prototyping stage and will remain there throughout 2022. EA currently expects the project to be released in 2024 or even 2025.

Alavi had been employed at Respawn Entertainment for 11 years. He had senior roles throughout the Apex Legends and Titanfall franchises before taking a leading role on the secret project. Before that he worked at Infinity Ward and is perhaps best known as the designer of the controversial “No Russian” level in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Where Alavi is heading next is a mystery although he did call his departure “the end of an era“.

In other news, Hitman 3 gets a completely new roguelike mode called Freelancer later this year. However, year 2 begins on January 20 with Elusive Target Arcade, the revamp of Elusive Targets the developer has been promising for months. Elsewhere, Blue Isle Studios announced a new multiplayer first-person shooter called LEAP.
