Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov has called on PlayStation and Xbox to do more in response to the Russia and Ukraine crisis.

In an open letter published on Twitter, Fedorov appealed to all game companies and esports organisations to help. He says: “You are definitely aware of what is happening in Ukraine right now. Russia declare war not for Ukraine but for all civilized world. If you support human values, you should live the Russian market!”

In the open letter, Federov continued to explain the damage carried out during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, calling upon the limitation of technology in the region as being a way

“The Russian Federation has carried out a deceptive and outrageous military attack on my country. Just imagine, in 2022, cruise missiles attack residential neighbourhoods, kindergartens and hospitals in the heart of Europe.

“The armed forces and citizens are defending Ukraine till the end! The whole world is repelling the aggressor through the imposition of sanctions – the enemy must suffer significant losses.”

Fedorov also says the best way to punish Russia in 2022 is by reducing their access to “modern technologies.” He believes all accounts in Russia and Belarus should be temporarily suspended and the participation of Russian and Belorussian teams in international esports events should be banned. Events in these regions should also not take place, according to Fedorov.

In his finishing statement, the deputy prime minister says Ukraine is “sure that such actions will motivate the citizens of Russia to proactively stop the disgraceful military aggression.”

Action from publishers is expected soon. Tom Henderson, a reputable leaker, believes EA is planning to remove Russia from FIFA and NHL. A new company email discussed how EA can respond to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The industry’s next biggest release — Gran Turismo 7 — is still due for release in Russia. However, Sony has pulled some of its films from the country in the last week.
