It looks like popular free-to-play game Roblox is headed to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, if a new job listing is anything to go by. As spotted by The Verge, developer Roblox Corporation is specifically looking for a Senior Software Engineer for PlayStation. It was only a year ago that chief executive officer and co-founder Dave Baszucki hinted that he wants to bring the game, which boasts over 164 million monthly active users, to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

When will Roblox PS4 and PS5 versions release?

Roblox’s PS4 and PS5 versions haven’t officially been confirmed yet. Baszucki’s aforementioned comment is the closest thing we’ve heard so far but the job description is pretty telling. “You’ll help build and support our engine used by millions of users worldwide for the Sony PlayStation platform, and other leading gaming consoles on the market,” the ad states. Interestingly, one of the requirements is to “develop and support the Roblox client application for gaming consoles platforms like Microsoft Xbox One and Sony PlayStation 4.” Roblox is already available on the Xbox One as of 2015. The company may be using an older job description but it’s also possible that a native PS4 version is in the works, which will run on the PS5 via backwards compatibility.

Opinion: Roblox has recently been in the news for all the wrong reasons

Zarmena writes… Over the past year or two, the only time I’ve seen Roblox being mentioned is when there are articles about pedophiles using the game to trick and lure children. Roblox Corporation has been criticized time and time again for not doing enough to combat the pedophile ring that exists within its platform. Naturally, that makes me a tad uncomfortable about the game expanding to PlayStation platforms but here’s hoping Sony’s conscious of said reports and has a plan in place to safeguard its users.

In other news, the latest Dying Light 2 patch fixes co-op issues and deathloops, and EA has confirmed that Dead Space remake is targeting an early 2023 release window.
