It’s hard to believe that we’re kicking off Series 8 of the Forza Horizon 5 Festival Playlist and the Weekly Challenges which that brings. But that’s the case and once again a whole host of rewards and new cars are on offer. That’s where we come in, detailing the best cars and the fastest tunes that you’ll need in order to complete the challenges with ease. We’ll start with those for Series 8 – Summer.
Part 1 – Weekly Challenge – The AMG Treatment
Here it is, the traditional opener to the weekly festivities. You know the score by now – a car is suggested, you buy it and do stuff in it, and points are forthcoming.
This week the car is the 2012 Mercedes Benz SLK 55 AMG; a small, ridiculously fast convertible. This will set you back a mere 78,000 credits from the Autoshow.
Chapter 1: The Best of Nothing
Buy it, drive it. Job done. It really does look best in white…
Chapter 2: Close Up
Surprisingly, given the title of this task, we have to take a picture of the car.
Up on the D-pad, snap away. Bob is your uncle.
Chapter 3: Driving Performance
For this challenge, we need to earn nine stars at speed traps, and luckily the car has a secret weapon: a 5.5 litre V8 engine, in a tiny body.
Pick your fave trap and go for it! It’s worth saying this car does make a rude, dirty sound!
Chapter 4: Style & Power
Lastly, we have to bank a mere 100,000 skill score using this car.
Now, with its recipe of big power and rear wheel drive, I’d say a spot of drifting would be just what the doctor ordered, and so I hit up a drift zone to win easily.
Part 2 – Weekly Challenges
It’s the weekly challenges and whilst The Trial seems to have been dumbed down, we’ve got a tasty Eventlab, a few Seasonal Championships and some PR Stunts to enjoy.
Eventlab – DNASTONTHEBEST Presents Shipyard Autocross Battle
For this event, we have to use a German car tuned to a maximum of B Class 700. I went with a classic 2001 Audi A4 Avant, reasoning that AWD would be an advantage, and I might need to pick up some shopping on the way home.
The share code is: 172973840.
Surprisingly, this event is actually pretty good fun to play, so make sure you use that handbrake!
Come out on top in this event and you will acquire the “Pop N Lock” emote. Yay.
The Trial – Stock Showdown: Mercedes-Benz 190E
Ah, the Trial, where your success or failure is in the hands of your teammates plucked from the ether.
The challenge this time is to take a bone stock Mercedes 190E from 1990, and pedal it to victory with no upgrades. Quite a challenge against Unbeatable Driverbots.
Succeed and you will win a Mercedes C63.
Seasonal Playground Games – Down the Hatch
Another week, another invitation to play the Playground games. You know what to expect – play three rounds of games, which to be fair are pretty fun, win or lose, everyone’s a winner.
Especially so this week, as the car that you win, a VW Golf R from 2010, also happens to be the car that you need for the photo challenge.
Speed Zone – Switchbacks
We have to take an Audi TTS, tuned to a max of A Class 800, and blitz this speed zone at an average speed of 95mph. Not too tricky with a slightly tuned car, and my share code is: 831803008.
Going downhill does seem to be faster, so start at the top would be my advice, and mind that corner.
Win a Super Wheelspin for your troubles.
Drift Zone – Las Curvas
Take a Formula Drift #98 BMW 325i and slide it about the place. Score over 90,000 points to take home the prize, and stock trim is absolutely adequate for this.
Lucky really since the car costs a small fortune!
This is pretty challenging, and my top tip is to never brake: lift off the throttle to transition the drift as braking seems a bit grabby.
The prize, you ask? Another Super Wheelspin!
Danger Sign – Launch Control
We have to take a Mercedes A-45, tune it to a max of A Class 800, and then fling it 320 metres off a danger sign. What could be easier?
I poured all available points into the engine, and with more than 600 rampaging German horses under the bonnet, this was not too bad. The share code is 160991164, and 330m was in the bag!
Another Super Wheelspin can be yours.
Seasonal Championship – Meet and Street
Racing is what I like best in Forza Horizon 5, and this looks to be an interesting challenge.
Porsche Vs Audi, but only tuned to A Class 800. Be a shame not to use the TTS we built for the Speed Zone challenge, eh?
Seasonal Championship – Pick Me Up
Racing at last. Shame it is only German Pickups and 4X4’s really, which isn’t a massive pool of cars to choose from. Especially limited to a B Class 700.
I went with a Mercedes G63 AMG 6×6, reasoning that if 4WD was good for an off road race, 6X6 must be better? The share code is: 156321981
Success will award you the Mercedes 190E you need for The Trial, so maybe do this first?
Part 3 – Other Challenges
This week it is very much business as usual, with only a photo to take and a Treasure Hunt to find. Apart from the obligatory Horizon Open challenge, that is.
So, let’s see how to rack these ones up, shall we?
Photo Challenge – #ONCOURSE
Take a picture of a VW Golf R 2010 at the Club de Opalo de Fuego. I’ll share the location and my artistic attempts below for your viewing pleasure.
The Club is on the West Coast, near the bottom of the map.
Treasure Hunt – Power Up
The clue this week is “It’s time to get electric in the clover zone”, alongside a picture of a Porsche Taycan.
Now, there is a Cloverleaf Speed trap, could it be this? I got three stars (at 210 mph) to check, and it wasn’t. D’oh!
I guess the word Zone must be a clue, so I tried the Trebol (Spanish for Clover, fact fans) Speed Zone nearby, and it was it. You don’t need three stars, so just blast through and the chest is yours.
I’ll include photos of where to find it. Just look for a massive pylon.
Horizon Open – Open Season
Finally, complete any Horizon Open race in a German car to win this award.
Now, as usual, with a wide range of classes to choose from, it’s hard to recommend you a tune, so use your best judgement.
Doing this will net you a BMW M6 from 2013.
Series 8 looks a good one and with Summer the Forza Horizon 5 season is kicking off in style. There’s the Monthly Rivals hot lap to partake in too, as you try and post a clean lap around the Arch of Mulege Circuit – just take it slow and 4 challenge points will be yours.
Earn enough points through Summer and you’ll find the Porsche 959 (20pts) and 911 GT3 RS4 ‘12 (40pts) dropping into your garage. It’ll also help you towards the full series rewards of the Mercedes AMG E63 (80pts) and the AutoUnion Type D (160pts)
Series 8 will continue with Autumn (and then Winter and Spring) challenges before you know it. We’ll be here with guides and tunes for those too. In the meantime, to play Forza Horizon 5 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S or PC, you’ll need to visit the Xbox Store. It’s freely downloadable through Game Pass.
The comments are below these words too – let us know if any of our tunes helped you out.
