We know you’ve been wanting Berzerk Studio to bring their intense musical experience to Xbox. And that’s exactly what they’ve done with the launch of Just Shapes & Beats on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

Previously available on other formats – PC, Switch, PlayStation and even Google Stadia – Just Shapes & Beats finally makes its way to Microsoft’s finest boxes, with launch on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

Priced up at £16.74, Just Shapes & Beats mixes musical masterpieces with bullet-hell battles, as the players is left to avoid any shape that may be on screen, working the beats in the process. And yep, it’s as tricky as it sounds and you should expect to be found dying. A lot.

But hone your skills, become immersed in what Berzerk are offering up and you may well find yourself loving what Just Shapes & Beats is able to provide. There are more stages than you can shake your booty too (more than fifty in all), with licensed tracks coming from the best part of two dozen chiptune and EDM folk. And yep, this has the Lost Chapter Update in place, expanding the original story mode and includes a remix of Spider Dance from Undertale. The Mortal Kombat remix is in too.

Playing out as one big paaaaarty, Just Shapes & Beats is a perfect timewaster for a solo player to involve themselves in, but with four player drop-in, drop-out cooperative play working both local and online options, it gets better still.

Berzerk Studio are promising that there will be something for everyone as Just Shapes & Beats makes the move to the land of Xbox. We’ll be checking it out for sure, detailing the best bits in our full review.

Game Description:

Just Shapes & Beats is a chaotic co-op musical bullet-hell based on three simple things: avoid Shapes, move to the kick-ass Beats, and die, repeatedly. It’s a new spin on the SHMUP genre, adding a layer of cooperation that’s at the core of the game: because everything is better with friends. Play alone or with up to four players, local or online, through the game’s Story Mode or Challenge Runs.
