Neil Druckmann confirmed at Summer Game Fest 2022 that he’s working on a new game, hinting at a new project for his studio Naughty Dog. The revelation came at the tail end of the event, which saw Druckmann announce The Last of Us Part 1 for PS5 (though not before the game unfortunately leaked online).

What is Naughty Dog’s new game?

Summer Game Fest host Geoff Keighley asked Druckmann if he was still working on games during his appearance on the show, to which the Naughty Dog lead said that he hadn’t given up his “day job.” When pressed further, he confirmed that he has a new project in the works, though it was too early to outline what he has been working on.

Druckmann had previously teased that plenty of projects were in the works, posting job listings back in February hinting at Naughty Dog’s upcoming games. It’s unknown if the Naughty Dog team is working on something familiar, such as a new entry in the Uncharted series, or a brand new IP altogether, but Druckmann’s comments during Summer Game Fest’s closing moments at least confirm that something new is coming that we don’t already know about.

A cryptic revelation, then, but certainly a welcome one for Naughty Dog fans. Druckmann also revealed that more information regarding the highly anticipated TLoU online game would be revealed next year, before showing off concept art for the upcoming multiplayer release. This was on top of the trailer for The Last of Us Part 1, which had leaked ahead of the show much to the disappointment of both Druckmann and Keighley.

In other news, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 players on PS4 are being forced to fork out $70. It was also revealed that progress and inventories in the original game wouldn’t carry over to Warzone 2.
