Sony launched its new InZone brand of gaming monitors with the reveal of the M3 and M9. These high-performance monitors are targeted at a general gaming audience, but their black and white designs are an obvious wink to PS5 owners. Surprisingly, despite this, they lack any PlayStation branding at all.

Sony InZone gaming monitors seem perfect for PS5 owners

Sony’s new InZone monitors seem like a match made in heaven for PS5 players, if only for one reason: HDMI 2.1 compatibility. The PS5 supports 120Hz at 4K in HDR in select titles, but there’s a noticeable lack of monitors that support HDMI 2.1. Fortunately, both the M3 and M9 should let you use the console to its fullest.

However, you will be paying a premium for Sony’s InZone monitors. Here are the specs and pricing on both:

InZone M3

  • Price: $529
  • Display Size: 27-inch
  • Resolution: 1920 x 1080p
  • Refresh Rate: 240Hz
  • Contrast: 1,000:1
  • Response Time: 1ms
  • Max Brightness: 400 Nits
  • Color Gamut: 99% sRGB
  • Connections: 2x HDMI 2.1 with VRR, 1x DisplayPort 1.4, 3x USB 2.3 Gen 1, 1x USB 2.0 port

InZone M9

  • Price: $899
  • Display Size: 27-inch
  • Resolution: 3840 x 2160p
  • Refresh Rate: 144Hz
  • Backlighting: Full-Array Local Dimming
  • Contrast: 1,000:1
  • Response Time: 1ms
  • Max Brightness: 600 Nits
  • Color Gamut: 95% DCI-P3
  • Connections: 2x HDMI 2.1 with VRR, 1x DisplayPort 1.4, 3x USB 2.3 Gen 1, 1x USB 2.0 port

The big question is whether these monitors are worth the price. Of course, having access to all of the PS5’s feature set in a smaller form factor is great. However, you can get a 48″ LG C1 OLED TV on sale right now on Amazon for less than what the M9 goes for; that absolutely blows Sony’s InZone line away. I guess if you need something under 40″ there’s not a ton of options, though.

In other news, check out Sony’s InZone headset lineup, and Persona 5 Royale for PS5 includes all DLC for free.
