Alright, you know the drill. The Pokémon Center Japan has just announced a new life-size Pokémon plush, and this one’s really cute. Everyone get in line, and start emptying out your pockets.

The newest addition to the giganto-plush line is Altaria, the Gen 3 fluff-bird that is literally described as being surrounded by “cotton-like clouds” and having “soft wings”. There could not be a more perfect candidate for a big, huggable boi.

How big are we talking? 6.5kg of fluff, and dimensions of 96 x 131 x 90cm. He big. Unfortunately, he is not actually made of cotton like his description says — he’s made of polyester and polyurethane foam balls. For delivery, however, he’ll be squished down to a vacuum-packed parcel of just 85 x 75 x 67cm. Surely the sight of him emerging from a vacuum-pack bag is worth the admission price alone?

Like most of the mega-plushes before it, Altaria is currently only available for pre-order on the Pokémon Center Japan, where the fluffy lad costs 55,000 yen (around $380 / £340), and will be made to order and shipped out in May 2023. These plushes tend to come to the West a couple of months after the Japanese release, so we’ll keep our fingers crossed that this very good use of our hard-earned money will be made available to us soon.

Here are the official images to convince you that this is a good idea:
