It’s been an absolutely huge week for Super Mario, with Illumination and Nintendo giving the world its very first look at The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Although the longtime video game voice of Mario Charles Martinet isn’t leading this project, he hasn’t been forgotten about.

Fellow voice actor Tara Strong (The Powerpuff Girls, My Little Pony, Harley Quinn in MultiVersus, and Miss Minutes in Loki) has called on social media to show the voice of Mario “some love”. Of course, Charles was amazed by the collective response from fans – thanking everyone who had reached out. Here’s the full exchange:

In the teaser trailer for the Mario Movie, Charles is listed in the voice credits. As previously reported, he’s expected to make cameo vocal appearances throughout the movie – so we’ll presumably be hearing something from the video game voice of Mario during this big-screen adventure.
