Valkyrie Entertainment’s free-to-play side-scrolling strategy game Guns Up will have its servers shut down permanently in 2023. After that point, the game will be unplayable seeing as it relies on the online servers to function. The only positive part of the announcement is that players will receive a parting gift to use in the six months leading up to the server closure.

When will the Guns Up servers be shut down?

The Guns Up servers will be shut down on PS4 and PC on April 14, 2023. At this point, all multiplayer and online features will cease to function. As players need to be online for the game to function, this means the game will be unplayable from April 14. As an apology and a thank you to players, all existing accounts will receive 50,000 Gold by the end of October 2022.

A mashup between real-time strategy and tower defense, Guns Up let players build and upgrade their defenses before heading out onto the battlefield to take on other players. The aim is to capture the opponent’s base while successfully defending your own using a variety of units and special abilities. Unfortunately, the game has suffered from a dwindling player population since its release in 2015 and Valkyrie Entertainment has since moved on to pastures new.
