Critically-acclaimed since initial release on Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam, the world of Monster Hunter Rise will soon be coming to Xbox, Game Pass and PlayStation.
The latest instalment in the Monster Hunter series, Rise is the action RPG that will whisk players off to Kamura Village; a world that is as colourful and tranquil as you could possibly imagine. It’s also a world that is fully entwined in the hunt.
It’s here where you’ll find that the core gameplay experience in Monster Hunter Rise manages to stay true to the previous highly-praised Monster Hunter entries – games like Monster Hunter: World for instance. You should expect to equip your armor and select from one of the fourteen different weapon types before heading out to tackle daunting foes.
As players defeat monsters and progress through the game, items carved from fallen foes can be used to craft unique weapons and armor that increases their chances of survival. Hunters can tackle these challenges solo, or with up to three other hunters in cooperative online play.
But Monster Hunter Rise switches things up a bit, adding in new mechanics for you to make the most of – wire-based grappling actions can be performed by using a “Wirebug” while standing or in mid-air, adding an all-new level of aerial manoeuvrability to hunting strategies and attacks. Additionally, the game features the technique of Wyvern Riding, which allows players to temporarily take control of a monster and yield spectacular battle sequences during hunts.
Monster Hunter Rise also introduces new hunting partners called Palamutes, personalized and rideable Canyne companions that provide players with new sets of attack options. The Canyne Palamute companions join the series favourite Felyne Palicoes in assisting players while out on hunts.
More than eleven million units of the game have sold on Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam so far, but now it’s going to be the turn of Xbox and PlayStation players to get in on the action – and with Day One Game Pass power, the world is Rise’s oyster.
It’ll launch on January 20th 2023, playable on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, through Game Pass and on PS4 and PS5. When it hits, Monster Hunter Rise features customizable optimizations, allowing hunters to enjoy their journey in 4K resolution and 60 FPS on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, while also offering 3D audio for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. If you’re on PS5, both ranged and shielded weapons will also make use of DualSense adaptive triggers.
Further, expect to find the release of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak – the monstrous expansion – coming in Spring 2023 too.
We’ll remind you when that January 20th release arrives. You can get pre-ordering from the Xbox Store right now if you so wish.
